Dancing Queen and Imagine Listening & Lyrics LP
« on: April 05, 2013, 10:03:03 am »
Howdy waygooks! I feel like there aren't enough high quality lessons out there these days, and I just can't believe everyone plays bomb games every week (you don't, right? right???).

Attached you'll find materials for a lesson that should go fairly easily. The PPT is NOT a PPT - just some pics to help elicit vocab and the actual lesson plan is the first slide.

Engage – Disc. Q: What kind of music do you like? Why do you like it? Do you like to dance to it? (5 min including reporting to class)
Study – Set mood with a discothèque pic. Elicit vocab swing (pic), king (draw pic), tambourine (Q&A noraebang/karaoke/mime), chance (Fll-In-Blank/pic), jive – mime (5-8 min)
“Dancing Queen” Demonstrate Example first
Listen twice (8 – 10 min)
“Imagine”
Listen twice then translate the words (8-10 min)
Worksheet (5 min including reviewing answers)
Extra – Listen and read lyrics to “Mama Mia”
Materials: “Imagine” “D. Queen” “Mama Mia” videos, DQ handout, Imagine handouts (2), attached pics

I've found that my students struggle too much with the prior version of "Imagine" so I'm just attaching the actual John Lennon recording here. It went much better.
