Help others, especially animals. Say what you think, be considerate of others. Appreciate more than deprecate. Teach well, jump on teachable moments. Enjoy Korea as it is, without changing it. Dwell! Yet, at times, change your life for the better. "The most important [thing] is to have a good day."

So I saw an anonymous post in one of the expat FB groups from someone asking if a school or hagwon can have a NET pulling a midnight run detained at the airport. I was in a rush at the time so I didn't pay attention to a lot of the details, and now I can't find the post, but I think this person's director or hagwon owner had made this claim and had also claimed that they'd done it before, I guess to help give weight to their claims.

I know a lot of the NETs who end up here are young and naive, but who actually believes this crap?

Maybe I'm just being a grumpy-pants, but for ffs.

Part of me wonders if the anon poster was secretly a hagwon owner trying to find out just how much we know.

IT's possible, but only in the sense of the director calling the police and accusing the teacher of some serious crime. Which is illegal a la "filing a false police report."
And if my thought-dreams could be seen
They’d probably put my head in a guillotine

Even then, they'd have to have proof of the crime, and like you said, it would have to be a pretty serious crime. They can't just make the accusation and expect the police to detain anyone on their word for it, lol.

And of course that would only come around to bite the accuser in the ass later, even if they'd managed to pull it off. Which they wouldn't.

Please come out Friday even if you are sick. This is not a request, it is something you must do... even if COVID-19 is confirmed, it will not be quarantined. It's decided by Korea!

A predictable outcome of quarantine becoming "recommended" instead of mandated. I enjoyed my week off when I got covid. Probably would have been fine to work the second half of the week, but the first few days I definitely needed the rest. Will public schools have the same attitudes as hagwons?

Hagwons don’t believe in sick days. They wouldn’t give any vacation days either if there wasn’t a law preventing them from doing so.

And again, June 6th is a public holiday, but we are going to have classes without a break.

Luckily, my favorite poster is there to offer some sound advice.

My apologies. I love working there so much that I will teach for free on weekends. No need for a break as working for you gives me all the energy I need.

I was given the keys for my school so that I could come in yesterday for some extra prep work. Can never be too ready.

I know this is a joke. But I've got a story. xD

During my deskwarming periods, my travel schools normally agree that I should deskwarm at my main school, even on the days that I'm supposed to be at their locations. It's easier for everyone.

But my second year here, one travel school absolutely insisted that I deskwarm there, despite the fact that absolutely no one else would be there, not even the groundskeeper. This is in a remote area, there's only one bus, and you have to wait 1-2 hour intervals for it. I asked them for the key to get into the school, and they refused, so I naively took this to mean that someone would be there to let me in.

So I get there on the day of, it's raining heavily, and all of the doors are locked. I wait for about 15 minutes, get pissed, try to call my travel school's English teacher who refuses to answer the phone, and I end up calling my main coT. He calls the English teacher, and she ****** answers the phone for him, and then she tells him that no one is going to come unlock the doors because it's the holidays and I need to understand that.

So he gets mad and asks her why in the ****** hell they wanted me to be at the travel school if this is how they were going to be about it, and she was all like, "Because today is our day with her." So basically, she had expected me to just sit outside the school all day, in the ****** rain, because I couldn't be trusted with the key and no one else should have to come in for any reason because it was the holiday.

My coT was livid, haha. He came and got me, treated me to some coffee, and to this day I annoy everyone with needing to confirm every ****** thing no matter how common sense you would THINK it is.

Wow, that is so screwed up. I had a couple of weird things myself but nothing like this.  My worst was during a particularly snowy winter, I had to report for desk warming. Got to school, not a soul to be seen (bear in mind it was snowing heavily). I waited for about 30 minutes and some dude turns up, asks me what I am doing there, unlocks the office for me. I go in, guess what? No electricity. I go and find the dude and ask him to turn on the power so I can at least turn on my computer, lights and some heat. His answer, nope. So I sat there in the freezing, dark office till 12 and I just left. I never went back to do desk warming that vacation and no one said a thing.

Another occasion, I was desk warming, my principal walks in and sees me. She comes up to me and asks me why I am at school? I told her the head teacher told me to come in. She said that's b\s, go home. Sadly it was the last day of my desk warming, wish she had seen me earlier.
