I've never met a hefty person who eats clean. Have you? Something to think about anyways.
I did meet a vegetarian who was fat. I mean, I can see why this could happen, but I was still pretty surprised.

Two of my besties are vegan and they are very curvy, in fact one is considered overweight medically, which I still struggle to understand but it is what it is.

Oh, an opportunity to rant at misguided vegan/vegetarians!  :azn:

Vegetarians have no clue what they are doing, and have zero understanding of human evolution. Homo sapiens are most adapted to MEAT AND PLANT (hunter/gather). Clueless cultists decide they are going to ONLY eat the plants, EXCLUDE animal foods, BUT include grains/sugar. What logic is that!?

It is irrational, and the results are what you would expect.
Really, it's all a personal choice. The vegetarians I met weren't really doing it for health reasons, they were doing it because they liked animals. Even if they are fat, if they're okay with their choices, I mean, why the **** does it matter?

Also, you're talking to someone who's a believer in the low-carb diet, so the fact that I can say this maybe shows that maybe you shouldn't be so quick to put people down because of a life style they chose.

Hahahaha,     and there is an equally compelling argument to the contrary. Ergo - everyone to their own. Make your choices. Live it. Love it.
Morphologically speaking, humans (like most other primate) are omnivores. As such, we can more or less eat whatever they like.
The upside of this is that, with a little research, we can choose to be true herbivores (or true carnivores I guess).

Vegetarianism is something I've been striving towards for a long time but the joys of the dark(ly roasted animal flesh) side are just too tempting to avoid completely.
  Maybe some day!

Somebody parked their car literally right in front of the door to the school so no one can get through and enter or leave without backtracking and having to go to the other end of the building and around. They did this to avoid a little bit of rain, but now everyone else has to walk all around the building in the rain.

I get that at my travel school.  I share a computer with the Chinese teacher, she has this program installed that changes words into Chinese.
To get it to stop, there's a little icon on my taskbar.  It's next to the time/battery/network connection symbols area.  Sometimes it will randomly switch back to Chinese, and the letters CH will appear beside the icon.  To switch it back, click the letters and then click the EN option.

Hopefully, this works for you.  I know how frustrating it is!

That's not really the point.

Homo sapiens CAN SURVIVE eating a lot of different things. But are more adapted to certain foods (meat, and plants not including grains). This is easily proven, as for every single culture that has ever existed, all over the planet — health declined when sugar and white flour were introduced.

Your theory—destroyed!

Um, all that I pointed out was that humans are omnivores. No theories postulated to be destroyed.

So long as I'm not the main course, I'm pretty laissez faire about what other folk choose to eat. :undecided:

Um, all that I pointed out was that humans are omnivores.

People misinterpret "omnivore" with "being able to eat anything with equal results". The existence of a metabolic syndrome epidemic sweeping the planet contradicts that.

Loki88,

I don't envy you.

I used to get an earful from a former colleague and friend that went through the same struggles/battles.

Thankfully for him, his wife was much more assertive and firm with her mother (that is a razor's edge to navigate).

How many more years do you think you will have to endure?

Years. Pff, our plane tickets are booked for June.

I'm just worried about leaving fir more than 30 seconds because I come back to the temp set to 30 and my son is wrapped in multiple blankets panting fir breath.

He was actually hospitalized Monday night and she still doesn't ****** get it. My wife is too scared to do anything about it.

No doubt, she has the best of intentions.  She is simply unable to see how wrong-headed she is.

Two practices you'll want to put an end to: laying the child on the hard floor and having their legs spread out around the backs of their mothers/grandmothers (old school back strapping).  Both cause irreversible damage and deformity: flat-head cranium/Plagiocephaly and bowed legs (two generations+ suffer from the above).

Be mindful.

As for your wife, don't be too tough on her.  Postpartum depression can take its toll.

Hang in there Loki.

No, seriously. I'm 95% sure that sugar and flour have done way more good than harm for the average human being. If your post was serious - and it's hard to tell when you're so flippant - you need some proof to back up such a claim.

"White flour" dates from around 1870, when steam-driven mills came about during the Industrial Revolution.

Avg world life expectancy in 1870 was 29.7 years.  Today, it is 71.4 years.

It is verifiably untrue that "health" (assuming that has anything to do with, y'know, being alive) has declined since the introduction of white flour.

So do medical people, at least in that life expectancy is the most widely used measure of health.  It's not perfect, and there are ways of computing "quality of life" into measuring "health", but however you do it, it is simply a fact that human health has vastly improved since the introduction of white flour.

Sorry, but wouldn't looking at the actual causes of increased lifespans be more telling?

Clean drinking water, for example?

Life expectancy has increased in India, Africa, etc., for different reasons, but not one of them is due to white flour and sugar.
