Did you invent that phrase in the language lab?
Er, ... in my head in seconds. Then posted it. No filter.Language use is messy. We hear native speakers make "mistakes" daily. Sometimes they are intentional and sometimes not. But let's not repeat trite expressions. I don't traffic in tired phrases, if I'm up to it.Let your students say and write whatever - as long as the MEANING is clear. "Fourteen" vs. "Forty" is way more important than the spelling of 'tomato'.
Fluency vs accuracy. Standard CELTA material right there.
You got me mixed up with someone else.
I ain't gonna argue against my drunk self.Yes, i post when inebriated.I'm sober now, the sun is shining and i'm off. Before i go: i was born in Vancouver General Hospital while my parents lived on Randolph Street in nearby Burnaby. My dad and i went to Vancouver Island when i was mid-kindy (a shock i recall vividly). We lived on Vancouver Island until i was 10, close to 11, departing VanIse the last week of 1979. We sang "Take me home, country road, to the place, where we belong..." on the push-button am radio only dashboard. My family home thereafter for 29 years was Kamloops. I spread my dad's ashes in 2008 in the North Thompson river at his fav out-of-the-way fishing spot. It was a good day.Have a good day! :)(Our days are numbered. Speak your truth. Don't stutter. Let come what may.)
