It's as if people in this country never want to know the reasons behind what they believe or what they do. It's exhausting because people are constantly dishing out advice, telling me to eat this or do this for my health or some specific benefit. The truth is I ignore them until I get a chance to google it because WHO KNOWS what their thought process is. They don't give a f*ck about the science of ANYTHING. I'm tired of hearing "It's summer, but I'm sick... how!? It's hot!" How have people in this country not realized the weather isn't in total control of your health?? Wash your hands every now and then/stop sharing soup with people who are ill/allow people to take sick days and maybe you wouldn't be sick so damn often.I'm tired of having conversations with people spouting bullshit because they never learned to check their sources. It's more than just science/health related too, it seems like they'll believe any rumor about something another culture does and leave it at face value. Like, a Korean friend will send me some obviously fake/staged video and be like "this is happening in ______!" or some cheesy Japanese paranormal show "they found a ghost!" and I say it seems fake and they're like "Ah.. yeah maybe." MAYBE? Gullible is an understatement. Don't they have information on Naver? I keep hearing about how much better Naver is than Google so... use it!Tell me again how I'm going to get cancer from eating something charred while you gulp down your 4th bottle of soju while your smoking cigarettes and eating copious amounts of deep fried meat and kimchi `__`But eating kimchi cured my vapours! Hallelujah! And ol' harabeoji over there drinks two bottles of soju and smokes a pack a day and he can still hike the mountain every Sunday!Anecdotal evidence FTW To be fair most of the weird stuff I've heard just has to do with digestion and male virility. If me drinking a little 벌떡주 keeps the misses happy, who am I to say otherwise haha

It's as if people in this country never want to know the reasons behind what they believe or what they do. For example, I've been seeing a lot of dogs shaved down to the skin because it's summer. They think their dogs can't breathe/are overheating because they are panting or seem hot. A quick Google search will tell you that's dangerous and you could risk your dog getting sunburned! Actually the complete lack of awareness re: animals is baffling at times, even just the basics. I've mentioned wanting a pet and the responses I get are "so get one!" and I tell them I'm not home enough and my apartment is too small. I'd rather wait until I get home and have a yard/don't live in a shoe box so the animal can have a free and clean living space. The responses? "Ah but as long as you give the animal lots of love it's okay!" ... that's not how it works. It's exhausting because people are constantly dishing out advice, telling me to eat this or do this for my health or some specific benefit. And what there is is superficial at best. Furthermore, Koreans don't seem to be interested in looking at anything beyond their border. It's depressing really.I think I just don't know how to use the website because when I do a search on Naver all I get back are a bunch of blogs... I'd assume universities would have websites & their various research findings would be posted right? News articles aren't available? Is there a Korean version of Snopes??I'm just not sure how people stay in the dark about so many things, especially things that are supposedly important to them like their health, their pets they carry around like children, their actual children (do they really think a doctor is going to "stretch" their child into being taller..?)

There's some competition they're calling "Golden Bell" that I'm supposed to be helping with. It's during 5th and 6th periods. Well, 5th period started 5 minutes ago. No one ever told me where it was or any other such thing. The most explanation I've gotten for my role in it is "read English sentences." We'll see what happens I guess.
The question is, how did she get to google? Did she type "google" in the address bar, or did she type "구글" in the Naver search bar? I've seen teachers do the latter. I've also seen them Naver search "유튜브."
I just got word that my travel school wants me to come to some two day excursion with them and the kids during summer break. I guess I should feel honored, but I'm just annoyed. The school is super rural, so I have to get up at 5:30 am to catch the one and only rickety slum bus driven by an old man with one foot in the grave that traverses over foggy-ass Death Mountain on a narrow-ass, winding road (that happens to be under construction, too!) just so I can spend the day with my coworkers, with whom I never fail to have an awkward conversation with, and a bunch of kids whose English vocabulary would be cut in half if you removed "Hello" from their word hoard, doing nature stuff. One of the days isn't so bad. We will be "make something by flower" from 9am-1pm. However, the next day is a cannoning trip. I can't swim. And it's from 9-6pm, meaning I miss my bus back home. That in turn means I'll probably get to enjoy an awkward car ride home with the principal or vp. Yay......
Either refuse or request overtime. If you're not comfortable telling them no, you could cook up any number of stories, your parents are visiting you in Korea etc. Personally, I'd refuse. My holiday is sacred and this would be the last thing I'd be doing. You're not Korean so you get some slack for abstaining.
I want to drop kick my piece of @#^@ computer into orbit. Fastest internet in the world, yet these pcs are the slowest things on Earth. Can't even save a file without the thing seizing up.

Make sure they know ahead of time that you'll have no way home. Otherwise you might find that they never thought about your situation and you are stuck.
