I'm pretty sure that even in New Zealand, 1 dollar is equivalent to 100 cents.  :azn:

This too :p

The starting salary for a state school teacher in the UK is nearly 26 grand, which is 3.4 million a month. After tax that's 2.7 million.  However, a one room flat is going to cost a minimum of 800,000 in the UK so you'd be down to 1.9 million after that.  Council tax would take you down to under 1.8, which I believe is around what you get on 2.1 million after tax.

I have always got the daily wordle correct until today's. The streak extended back longer but i bought a new phone 80 days ago. I started wordle when someone here at waygook.org recommended it in early January.

It's my birthday today (May Day). I feel like I'll forgo celebrations. :(
Happy Birthday!

One New Zealand dollar is 64 cents.

Making it a great place to visit. I know lots of people who wish it were easier to emigrate to NZ.

Any time I read one of LI's US adverts, the national anthem starts playing in my head.

Maybe this should go in the what are you listening to thread.

Haha..this is funny.
You know I always see a a young boy in khaki pants and shirt, with a hand on his heart, gazing at a flag fluttering atop a wooden flagpole. Glad to know someone else shares snapshots and imagined scenes in their head...lol.

BTW, no offence or insult intended LI.

Leafs took the first game over the defending two time Stanley Cup champs Tampa Bay 5-0.  As a life long Leafs fan I can confirm we'll take the lead in the series only to blow it in game 7.

Not particularly happy! My wife has decided that instead of buying sweets this year for our students for Children's Day, I have to make chocolate chip cookies. I haven't been able to argue my way out of it (never am much good at arguing)
For regular classes, that means 200 cookies (no, I don't have 200 students or even 100).
Thankfully, I don't have to make them for the older part-time student classes. Not much of a bonus though. I'll be baking all evening

“The number of obese people in South Korea more than doubled between 2017 and 2021, a trend exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic, data showed.”

Yikes!

…but then look at the graphic. That is some God awful reporting. How was this published?

that does look pretty bad lol. also while i get that keto is a thing i dont think that sort of obesity spike is the fault of a slice of buttered bread (looks like wheat bread too, not even that sugary wonderbread type stuff)

The Maple Laughs may blow it by Game 6.

They came back and won it today to take a 3-2 series' lead, so if they're going to blow it, it can't happen by game 6.

My gym's recently hired a trainer that keeps harassing me over stupid shit. It started off small, but it very quickly escalated into him following me around and trying to find any little reason to interrupt my workout. When I'd show or voice my irritation with him, that seemed to only egg him on.

I finally just started flatout ignoring him. That seems to be working for the most part, but I'm gonna start going in the early mornings just to avoid him until I can finally complain to one of the gym managers.

The mother of one of my students punished him a couple weeks ago by not allowing him to go to one of his soccer matches. He is still angry towards her about it. Being the leader and overall saint that I am, I sat him down and discussed the issue with him.

"You shouldnt hold grudges towards your mother. My father held grudges. I always hated him for that."

The ensuing confused stare and awkward silence told me that he understood.

Nothing will work on Explorer anymore.
Cool.
Log into Edge (hate it, but less so than IE), then into NEIS. Up pops this notification that in order to do anything on NEIS, I must first download what is, in effect, an Internet Explorer emulator.

It bears repeating for priceless film-worthy ironic and dramatic purposes: "My father held grudges. I always hated him for that."

Footnote: my dad never let me go to sleep angry at him. Even if it took an hour, he would, joke, tickle, reason, bargain, hug or w.h.y. to ensure he could say good night with a kiss on the cheek and a smile on the face. Gawd I miss him.
