STAY THE F OUT OF MY ELEVATOR!

I thought this for over a year, having to vacate when some bonehead thought it a good idea to go into a very confined space during a pandemic when a healthier, safer stairs option always existed (the building has only 5 floors).

Are you calling yourself a bonehead?

I had to replace all 4 engine mounts on my car last week. All were cracked and the car was making horrible 'rusty spring' sounds when going over bumps. 700,000 won gone on something that should not of broken in 6 years. I'm not happy. I bought this car from new in 2016 (Kia Carnival), and it's cost me a fortune in replacements that should not of needed replacing in short time. 4 door rollers, 2 new batteries, suspension pads (or something like that), rear seat folding levers... and a few other bits and pieces. Let alone all the dings and scrapes that needed whole panels replaced. from unidentified cars, whose owners did a runner (but that's not a fault in the car...just a rant).

How many Kms did you put on it?  Do you drive roughly over rough spaces or something else?  It could be this or just that the car is a shitty build.  Is it common to Carnivals?  Cars come out the year before so you bought in 2015 maybe?  Seven years old?  I know it's not on warranty, but did you contact the dealership and at least ask why a car under 10 years old and possibly low km's is doing this?

That's the thing, I'm not a reckless driver. I guess everyone says the same thing, but I'm really not. I'm for the most part extremely careful (although my wife does put her foot down a little  :lipsrsealed:). The car has 123,000 km on the clock, and yes we did complain, especially about the engine mounts. The Kia people were embarrassed, but just shrugged, and basically said 'bad luck', and blamed it on all the speed bumps around our town, and all the short runs we do (my wife runs many students home). Nothing I can do about it, they will come up with some bullshit (or facts) if we press it further.

Yeah, typical dodge responsibility and take no ownership of something.  Of course sometimes you can nag them and complain non stop to push them into a partial compromise or partially fixing at a reduced price.  You definitely have to have a strong spine living in Asia.  If you don't many will try to walk all over you and dodge the issue as fast as possible.  Sometimes you really have to be quite pushy here.  Don't take no for an answer.  Of course I suspect that you will still have to pay something and still more than you should.  Of course if they do crap to you remind them you will never buy from them again.  This is time when the libel law protects the corrupt.  Still you can let folks know about the bad service in other ways.

In college my old Toyota Corolla had a terrible motor mount and the front of the car would shake tremendously at every left turn. I sometimes laughed, sometimes cried, but nothing broke so i drove with it for almost two years! I then gave it to my dad and that first weekend he fixed it.

That car is famous for its poorly screwed on front right wheel falling off at exactly the moment i reached the top of the bridge, the wheel actually rolling AHEAD of the car!

If only there were smartphones, er, even the Internet then, in 1988.

Had a floater that took four flushes before finally going away. All the others left, but not this one. It would disappear momentarily, then return at the very end just to pop up and mock me.  I'll be damned if I was just gonna leave it there for someone else to see. But it wasn't even that. I wanted to defeat it. It was daring me to flush it, all while laughing at the size of my penis. Not today, no sir!

Bought one of these 1970 models for less than 500bucks back in the mid 90's on return from Japan while almost penny-less. It was a sweet ride for a while but with a  leaky radiator issue that I neglected. Eventually it overheated to the point where smoke billowed out of the exhaust as the engine was completely cooked. I was content to leave it on the side of the road and walk home after using a pay phone for a wrecker to tow it away at no cost but for the value of the wreck. I miss that car.

HA! Unbelievable! My wife just got home. She's been at the car service center because the car was playing up. Yep, we need a new EGR Valve. It just doesn't stop. I feel like drinking copious amounts of amber fluid, but I won't. I'll eat copious amounts of pie instead.

An EGR valve is a regular service item though.

Motor mounts at 125 000 km… that is unacceptable!

Nice photos! You should put this in the 'happy thread'.

Good point.  Will have to look for that next time.  Great Canadian summer weather last weekend.
