I agree with you in principle, but just because a thermostat is set for 30 or whatever, doesn't mean that the room will ever reach that temperature. It just means that the heater will be working at its maximum capability the whole time.

Ditto for A/C during the summer. Just because it's set for 18 doesn't mean that it'll ever get that cool in the classroom...

Todayís a nice day. Pleasant weather. Heat is turned on in the teachers office. So hot in there. Makes me sad to think of the natural resources being wasted. Itís increasing air pollution!

It's ok, it all comes from China.

Iím surprised by how many Koreans think that, that it all comes from China. Or most comes from China. In reality itís under half, maybe a third. But China is sending a lot of bad air to Korea. Something can be done on both ends.

You mean a place likely to have a majority female staff is going to want it warmer? I'm shocked!

I love how OP at no point considers that others might have different temperature preferences, that these preferences are normal, and that they are the majority in the place in question.

Then again consider that you have people like weigookin74 who scream the A/C should be on for 25 but whine about pollution when the heat is on at 14 or whatever.

LI are you going to post this when the temps are warmer but manageable and people here are moaning about the A/C not being on or set to low?

If not then really you're just griping that people aren't wasting energy when YOU want them too.

What's with all this dust at the moment? It seems that almost every morning and afternoon when I get off work my car is coated in the stuff. Never noticed before in previous years of having a layer of dust on my car twice in one day.

It's flower pollen/pine dust.
It seems to be worse than other years. Also earlier than before. Perhaps the last few weeks were dryer than normal. I dunno.
My allergy has been killing me for a week or two. Never happened in April before. I normally start having symptoms in early or mid May.

The last couple of years I've made it through spring without having to wash my black Korando jeep more than once a month.

This dang year is like 2016: twice a week I wash it and it still looks dang dirty in under 24 hours!

I agree, while I don't have a car, yesterday, I done a massive deep clean of a room in my apartment, 10 minutes later, the yellow dust stuff was already back.

The governmentís goal of establishing herd immunity to COVID-19 by vaccinating 70 percent of the population may not be achievable, according to an infectious disease expert at the National Medical Center.

ďEven after 70 percent of Koreans are vaccinated, there probably wonít be herd immunity as we know it,Ē Dr. Oh Myoung-don, who is leading the state hospitalís clinical committee for emerging infectious diseases, told a news conference Monday.

Meanwhile, a shortage of supplies has led to vaccinations coming to a halt: Appointments for those eligible for the shots have been postponed indefinitely.

Today is 18C / 64F.

Office heater says 25C / 77F.

This consumption of fossil fuels is contributing to air pollution (of which there is no safe level).

Korea has done an absolute shit job at procuring vaccines.

Percentage fully vaccinated:
USA: 41%
Korea: 0.5%

Why do you use "over 18s" for the US but total population for Korea? 41% of the US population over 18 has been vaccinated. 32.7% of the total population has been vaccinated. It's better to compare like for like. The US is so far ahead, even when making the more accurate comparison. Why do you choose to use misleading statistics?

How is it misleading? Both are stats I read in online newspapers.

You're trying to make a comparison between the United States and South Korea. The two figures you used do not measure the same thing. It's an inaccurate comparison. The inaccuracy is unnecessary because the US is clearly so far ahead in its vaccination program. 32.7% vs 0.6% total population vaccinated.

You are right.
But don't we all use energy (and therefore harming the environment one way or another) for doing things that are not at all necessary?

Coronavirus isnít that dangerous. Only if you are very weak can it kill you. Exceptionally healthy people almost certainly will feel nothing.

How many Americans died? Well under 1 in 500. Many of whom were going to die soon anyways.

Worldwide how many died? Well under 1 in 1,000.

Other things kill way more - air pollution, smoking, alcohol, obesity.

The less people get vaccinated, the more coronavirus will spread, resulting in more deaths (even thought it wonít be many, proportionally speaking) and a diminished quality of life.

I donít want to have to keep wearing a mask for years to come. And social distance. And not be able to travel abroad.
