I noticed that one or two threads have been locked recently.
They're interesting topics, and I suspect that they might eventually be unlocked once people have had some time to chill.

I was wondering the same thing.  Is anyone having difficulty with the discussions?  I mean, obviously I get censoring a certain someone for threatening violence, but most other responders are having adult conversations.  Just warn "no more personal insults and threats of violence will be tolerated and stick to the issues."  These are relevant conversations that are being locked.  We're adults.  We can handle an argument.

And is the minimum wage thread locked for everyone?  It looks like the main catalyst for the insults flying is still posting as of last night.  Anyways, Dipped asked a question about why Hangook is receiving vitriol for saying wages are too low, and it would be nice to explain to her that he has never received any vitriol or even disagreement on the fact wages are too low.  He has only received vitriol for how he responds to people that see the root of the problem in a way other than his own.  That's where all the vitriol has originated.  Everyone from the outset has agreed wages have remained stagnant.  It's the cause and solution posts where people have varying opinions, where Hangook has consistently attacked people as secret hakwan owners, idiots , and apologists  that has caused all the discord.

Hope you read that Dipped.

I know I had a stab at hangook a while back but he is right about the state of salaries here when measured against inflation.

He's also one of the most prolific contributors of material to the site.  I don't think he gets much credit for that.  Has there been a single PPT or worksheet amongst DM's 10,000 contributions for example?

Finally, I've noticed certain users that just go after him for the sake of it or maybe because he's older (for example, the guy who eats soy morning noon and night - I don't need to say his username lol).

He also dresses perfectly well, more undue attacks from that thread.

Again, he has been asked to provide an example of someone saying salaries have not stagnated over the years, and he dodges that.  That people take issue with him do not do it based on his "hard truths" about salaries.  We all know that and don't dispute it.  It's the way he has responded to people that don't agree with his solutions.  Despite his "I'm a victim" stance we all know he has personally insulted and attacked people that don't agree with his solutions to the issue.  There was never a need for him to go on the attack.  He made those choices and has a certain reputation here because of that.

I have yet to see anybody disagree with him on that. The issue 99.9% of us have with hangook is that he assumes everyone taking jobs for 2.1 are idiots/ignorant/suckers/whatever while continuously refusing to take into account why they're taking the job and how it stacks up against the pay in their home country.

Todayís a nice day. Pleasant weather. Heat is turned on in the teachers office. So hot in there. Makes me sad to think of the natural resources being wasted. Itís increasing air pollution!

Like my dad says, "Wear a sweater."
It's essentially May, there's no reason to have the heat on. It's 14 degrees in Seoul, not 4.

Where I am itís currently 17 degrees outside. Sunny day. The heating thermostat is on 23. During the winter it was sometimes at 30, the maximum setting, which was terrible. Seems like 25 should suffice as a maximum setting. Thereís no need to make a room hotter than that.

I agree with you in principle, but just because a thermostat is set for 30 or whatever, doesn't mean that the room will ever reach that temperature. It just means that the heater will be working at its maximum capability the whole time.

Ditto for A/C during the summer. Just because it's set for 18 doesn't mean that it'll ever get that cool in the classroom...

It's ok, it all comes from China.

Iím surprised by how many Koreans think that, that it all comes from China. Or most comes from China. In reality itís under half, maybe a third. But China is sending a lot of bad air to Korea. Something can be done on both ends.

You mean a place likely to have a majority female staff is going to want it warmer? I'm shocked!

I love how OP at no point considers that others might have different temperature preferences, that these preferences are normal, and that they are the majority in the place in question.

Then again consider that you have people like weigookin74 who scream the A/C should be on for 25 but whine about pollution when the heat is on at 14 or whatever.

LI are you going to post this when the temps are warmer but manageable and people here are moaning about the A/C not being on or set to low?

If not then really you're just griping that people aren't wasting energy when YOU want them too.

What's with all this dust at the moment? It seems that almost every morning and afternoon when I get off work my car is coated in the stuff. Never noticed before in previous years of having a layer of dust on my car twice in one day.

It's flower pollen/pine dust.
It seems to be worse than other years. Also earlier than before. Perhaps the last few weeks were dryer than normal. I dunno.
My allergy has been killing me for a week or two. Never happened in April before. I normally start having symptoms in early or mid May.

Same here! Every late April some of the trees on our street release this green/yellow pollen. It covers the car, the street, my yard, and it gets in my house. It's thick as, and I'm constantly cleaning the floor, computer, Tv...well everything, for a few weeks. When it rains, the street is like a green, sludgy stream.
It will be over soon.

The last couple of years I've made it through spring without having to wash my black Korando jeep more than once a month.

This dang year is like 2016: twice a week I wash it and it still looks dang dirty in under 24 hours!

I agree, while I don't have a car, yesterday, I done a massive deep clean of a room in my apartment, 10 minutes later, the yellow dust stuff was already back.
