Does TaLK deal with the GOE/CNOE?
« on: June 06, 2016, 12:05:43 pm »
After having an interview with my local embassy, they've given me the go-ahead to send my documents to the Seoul TaLK Office.  However, the embassy director asked me whether I preferred Chungnam or Gyeongnam and my recruiting agency has already submitted GOE and CNOE applications.

Does TaLK review their own applications or will they forward my application to the GOE/CNOE?

I don't want to create duplicate applications and get my applications rejected.

As far as I know, TaLK's recruitment is handled centrally by their Seoul Office in NIIED, Daehakro (Daehangno)...not sure if it's still at the same location.

Your application to EPIK/CNOE/GOE will not affect your TaLK application or vice versa.

I had simultaneous offers from both TaLK and EPIK, and chose to do TaLK instead.

Good luck!

If you have Korean ambassador as your recruiting agent, you are in safe hands.

Wait, since when did ambassadors start recruiting teachers?

I also had my TaLK interview at the Korean embassy in London (after passing the initial Skype interview).

I don't think it was the ambassador that interviewed me, but it was definitely someone high up.

Wow the legend himself, thanks for the clarification!

Might I ask what made you decide to do TaLK over EPIK?

You're welcome

I just felt TaLK would offer me a better opportunity to get my feet wet while getting used to teaching and living in Korea, which it did and more.

I had a blast, great school, met great people, and thoroughly enjoyed my experience.

You will be placed in a rural town or a small city, the only downer is using public transportation to get to school might take over an hour each way (in my case 2), and buses/trains will probably be infrequent...that can easily be sorted by getting your own transportation in the form of a small scooter or car - just make sure you do it legitimately.
