What's everyone doing for Memorial Day?
« on: May 31, 2016, 11:48:17 pm »
And how many days off do you get?

I've got 4 days - Saturday through Tuesday.

Any time we've got 4+ days off I generally try to leave the country. Friend took too long getting back to me about plans and now tickets are all sold out, so I'm stuck in Korea. Maybe I'll take the opportunity to try and make better friends.

To answer your question, I'm hosting someone on Airbnb and starting to pack up my life to mail home...

I'll be traveling to Asan for the day and exploring the cities around me. Maybe try to hit up three local cities in the area. Public transportation in Korea is amazing.

I generally agree about public transport, but I feel like it could maybe be a nightmare around the holidays.

I completely agree with you there. The last long weekend we had (maybe 3 weeks ago) I went with some church friends to Sokcho and Seoraksan. What waas suppose to be a 2.5hr trip turned into a 6hr trip to Sokcho. Worst traffic I've ever experienced. I'm just going to stick to the train now  haha.

Seeing as I waited too long, tickets to anywhere interesting were either sold out or had outagrous prices and travel times. Busan to Jeju with 2 stops and for 1000$?

Nope.

So we'll be eating and sleeping the weekend away at home. Maybe a daytrip to Gyeongju with the gf if we can manage to put clothes on.  :P

Once again, I have no plans.  I'll probably just stay around the house; might head to the nearby military base area to chill. I was thinking about going to Busan, but I still haven't made concrete plans yet and I'm thinking it might be too late for train tickets. Last time it took so long on the bus.... so meh.
I was hoping to find some ideas in this thread haha.
I only get Saturday-Monday off.

Boring isn't it? Just staying in watching Peak Practice with your life.

All you can drink GOOD makgeolli at Neurin Maeul in Euljiro with my homeboys on Saturday and then watersports in Gapyeong on Sunday and a sleepover in Chuncheon so I can climb Daeryongsan the next day. Crash.
The first thing to say is that this is definitely not pyramid selling, OK?

Here is a fantastic day out.

1:  Go to Gwangju and hop on the 09 bus which heads to the bottom of a National park mountain.
2 At the bottom make sure you've got beverages for the hike.
3: Hike to the top and take some amazing photos and enjoy gorgeous country side of Korea.
4:  Once you've finished head into downtown Gwangju and go to one of the many expat bars in town.
5: Sleep.

A fantastic way to spend a day in South Korea.
