Is it possible to stay in the country a few days after my visa expires?

Yep, if you get an extension. You can get it online, and they send you an official document in PDF form. Fill it out, bring it to the airport with your passport and you're all set.

I'm not sure of the website, but google "Korea immigration" or something like that. I'm sure you'll find it...

Renewing Visa BEFORE End Date?
« Reply #4 on: April 27, 2011, 12:29:09 pm »
Hi all.

So I am planning to stay another year at my school and my contract renews in September and current visa is good til some time in October.  I am planning on leaving Korea over my summer vacation in August--can I accomplish the visa run a month or more BEFORE my current visa expires?

Apologize in advance if this is a total no-brainer but I have been wondering for awhile and my co-teachers have no idea.

I believe you can apply for your new visa up to 2 months before it expires. You can call immigration to double check.

The difficult part is getting all the paperwork from your school that far in advance.

Yes. Since I've been in Korea, I always went back to my home country for all my summer vacations, and so I always renewed my visa before leaving (in my case, I always renewed my visa in July and then leave in August).
