Me: Who looks beautiful today?
Student: ME! (I like the confidence)
Me: Who is quiet?
Student: *screams* ME
*give student the look*
Me: Who is quiet?
Student: *whispers* meeeeee

I couldn't help but laugh, I love my grade 4s!

One of my students and I were talking and he said "Teacher, I like to show myself!" I was a little confused, and mimed the motion of a flasher and said "show yourself?" He nearly fell over himself trying to say no, and eventually explained that he likes to dance, and he shows his heart through his dancing. :cheesy:

Other student: It's not her Thanksgiving!

learning "This is..." with the third graders, one child shouts "THIS IS SPARTA"!

After lunch one kid grabs my hand and wants me to walk with him and he says "Come on, baby"....

Had this exchange the other day:

Grade 5 girl: Teacher, do you have chest hair?
Me: That's a strange question. Why would you ask that?
Grade 5 girl: I'm sorry teacher. Please forgive me.

Wut

My elementary schoolers are pretty obsessed with it. Whenever I have a button undone on my shirt, they point at it and say "Teacher 털! 털!" (hair)

I asked my co-teacher to ask him where he learned that

\A number of my students are saying "come on baby" this has gone on for a while though, but on Tuesday, one of my grade 2 elementary boys started saying "you're a wicked woman"........ we cannot get out of him where he has picked this up.

So every class I have had with him this week he says "hey, Matahari, you are a wicked woman".

It's hilarious but really awkward.....

I once had a student tell me "**** you". The co-teacher laughed and I laughed too. I responded with a sincere and earnest, "Well, **** you, too." Everybody was in stitches.

It was Donovan. Later, we explained that saying 'Bless you' is not the politically correct way to express something because people might be from different belief groups. The students understood and we moved on with the lesson.

This is right, but I'm really curious about exactly when and from what viral trend it started. I NEVER used to hear this in school or Korean online games until several months ago. Now it's EVERYWHERE. I even have 4th grade ele students using it, and really sweet and innocent students that I never would have expected to hear it from. Surprising to say the least.

Yeah at this point it's just a meme that's caught on, and soon enough any shock value that it has should wear off. I hope...

Anyway, I remember first hearing it (in middle school) this year March/April, but I think others were already hearing it last year. Your fourth graders probably don't really grasp the full meaning, and are just copying others when they say it.

I know I'm like a month behind the conversation but I would also add to the origin of "앙 기모띠" that it became an internet slang term last year and last summer/fall high schoolish aged kids got ahold of it and started spamming it in the games they play etc. Then it just took some time to filter its way down now every middle school child knows 기모띠

I teach one kid where everytime I begin to explain something using "this is..." he will always, ALWAYS, without fail, shout "SPARTA". I'm impressed at his quick reactions and that he is actually listening all the time, but it does stop me in my tracks somewhat. It is funny though

I was playing a game with 5th graders where students had to look at a series of pictures and write the English words associated with the pictures.

There was a picture of a whale.

One team misspelled it and wrote "wh*re."

Played a game where teams had to write down as many English words as possible according to a category given to them.

The category was "Super Heroes."

One team's answer: Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Woman.

I believe they meant "Black Widow."

I gave them the points.

Lesson on giving advice…

Me: "The dog ate my homework. What should I do?"

Student: "Teacher, how do you spell: revenge?"
