Next week, it's window and insect screen cleaning, air con cleaning , and just for Marti, a host of other chores that involve cleaning. Another fun Saturday on the horizon. Spring cleaning truly makes me feel good.
Thank Christ! I was shitting myself after rambling about cleaning and gardening.
Yeah you should have shit yourself before cleaning.
While prices may be increasing,... the cost of onions, peppers, leafy greens, nuts, seeds, beans, pasta and spices (black pepper, garlic powder, ginger powder and chili flakes...) remain more than reasonable. Bite the bullet to pay more for sweet potatoes and your fav fruit, but so be it. Get what you need. The overall take-home price is not a bad value as long as most items aren't frozen, boxed or canned. And awesomely... a tray of fresh in-season red raspberries for 5000 won? LET'S GO!
Reading the wiki article on Gimcheon-si and found this little gem of a nugget of wisdom.Expat and Western diningThe Lucky Penny is a locally owned restaurant in the Bugok-dong neighborhood. The menu includes Western and American favorites such as hamburgers, quesadillas, Philly cheesesteak sandwiches and other western dishes. Jared Sandler, Professor of English at Gimcheon University, is a regular visitor to the Lucky Penny. He gained the status of "#1 Customer" after donating a television that hangs on the wall to this very day.
You're always going on about Gimcheon. Why don't you just actually pull the trigger and move there instead of subjecting the rest of us to these daily Gimcheon PR memos? I bet the pay for ESL teachers is better there too, right? Yeesh.
Fresh blackberries? Where? Frozen has been my only option hereabouts.
I have loved "dangcho kimbap".From 2002 to 2009 I bought it in South Gyeong Sang province (specifically Geoje, Tongyeong, Jinju & Hadong). It was very spicy, had Cheongyang chili pepper and a red drizzle sauce). But I have only found it once since 2010 (in Jinju). *sigh* And it lacked the sauce.I believe a staple of many Southeast Korea rice roll shops and related local fast food shops has disappeared. If you know of a kimbap shop that puts spicy chopped Cheongyang chili peppers AND drizzles an even hotter red sauce on it, before rolling it into a very spicy flavor bomb, please let me know.
Just make it yourself. It ain't rocket science.Use 불닭 sauce.
Now excuse me while I go make a maple walnut ice cream and sourdough bread. A single serving.
Buy and prep a dozen ingredients to make one or two? It takes less time to make dinner!Maybe if you have a wife and kids it would make sense to make your own kimbap.I still rave happily for the dangcho kimbap I've had and if i come across it again, will buy it.Now excuse me while I go make a maple walnut ice cream and sourdough bread. A single serving.
