The Gunslinger by Stephen King. Not a huge King fan but can't resist anything with elements of horror, fantasy, and spaghetti western.

I plowed through and finished that book but I didn't enjoy it. I even started with the second book in the Dark Tower series and stopped half way through. It had an interesting concept but it just wasn't a good read. Well... not for me. I spoke to others about this series and they said it gets better later on.

I guess even Stephan King had to start somewhere. I'm glad his writing improved.

I actually really like "The drawing of three", the next book "The Wastelands" I thought was a lot better. Overall I think it is a great series and it does get better as the series goes along. I read the first 4 books and then listened to rest of them. Try doing that, it is easy to listen to an audio book while you are walking around or commuting.

Currently working on The Man from Beijing by Henning Mankell.  If you like Patterson novels this would be up your alley.

The Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy.  I really liked it.  It's about a very dysfunctional family from South Carolina.  Maybe I'll watch the movie soon.

Reason for Hope by Jane Goodall.  Pretty interesting so far.

Slowly making my way through the library's English books.

For some reason the library has ALL of Bill Bryson's books, kind of strange.

I just finished "The Girl Who Saved the King of Sweden" and am starting on #9 in the Wheel of Time series.

God help your soul. 9 and 10 were the slowest moving and least coherent, imo. The writing gets better when Sanderson takes over though. His epic series is also really good, but he's only two books in.
But how do I know what to lick and what not to lick?

I'm finishing up IQ84 - Japanese writer (Haruki Murakami).

If you're looking for Korea, "Please look after mom" (Shin Kyung-Sook) gives good insight into Korean culture and life in Korea after the Korean war during it's developing years a bit.  (I read this last year.)

Soon to start Conn Iggulden's "War of the Roses" series of books.  I bought the two out, will read them over vacation.  (I love historical fictionand have read all his other books.  James Clavell wrote some books with insight into Asian society.)

Never watched the TV series "The Dome", but I have the book.  I will read that after this.  I don't like Stephen King's horror, but I do like his other stuff.  I read a couple of years ago his book about the Kennedy assasination.  "11/22/63"

I'm reading "Under the Dome" by Stephen King right now, such a cool concept and well written. Has anyone seen the tv series? My brother watched it and said it was awful haha. Just curious for general opinion.

I don't like Horror, but Stephen King is a good writer.  The only horror book I ever read was "The Shining".  I might try to hunt down "The Stand" at some point.  It's originally from the 1970's and was re-released in 1990 or so to add a few current events?

I just started The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. I am agnostic so this should be interesting.

What's a good audio book app? I'm thinking of swapping out my workout playlist with something that'll actually strengthen my mind.

I finished off the last 60 pages of Phillip K. Dick's UBIK less than a week ago. I never understood why Bladerunner is held in such high esteem so I never bothered to venture into PKD's written stuff until I realized one of the God Hands in Berserk is named UBIK. Excellent piece of writing. Even if it's trivial I still can't help cracking a smile about how the characters have colonized Mars in the far-flung future of 1992 but the substance of the writing is very strong.

I ordered Ninety Percent of Everything by Rose George. It's about shipping and how important it still is. I've been reading a lot about navies and stuff lately so I guess I subconsciously drifted to it.

Well after forever, I finally got around to reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. It was a cute, funny little read. Very creative!

I use Audible from Amazon. It's $15/month and you get 1 credit for any book, or you can just buy independently, but it often would be more expensive than $15 for a newer book. It's nice because it syncs between devices too.

I like smart audiobook. It has some great features and you can listen to different audiobooks and it will remember your spot in each book.
