I am not a romance novel person, but I couldn't put down Fifty Shades of Gray. I actually enjoyed the book more before it got to the crazy stuff. I am now reading The Hunger Games because I want to watch the movie. I definitely want to try to read the Patti Smith book though.

For the RomCom readers out there.....Can you keep a Secret by Sophie Kinsella is pretty hilarious - actually I think she is the only RomCom author I like - there a few others that are ok such as Jill Mansell but they can be hit or miss or more Rom than Com.

Started Agatha Christie's The Pale Horse. One of my favourite authors and one of my favourites of her books.

Water for Elephants was better than I was expecting.

The Neverending Story was quite interesting.

For those who like thrillers - Karen Rose is pretty decent

For paranormal romance/fantasy - Kelley Armstrong

One of the best books I've read in the last few years is The Historian.

Cheers

I just finished The $100 Startup.

It's a pretty decent book about starting a business with less than $100 in startup costs.  Some of the examples in the book seem a bit odd but there is some useful information as well.  Almost all of the examples seemed to revolve around an internet business of some sort.

Everyone on this thread seems to be posting super intellectual books. Is eveyone ashamed that they read Patricia Cornwell and other bestsellers?:)

I'm not at all ashamed to admit that I just finished another of Kathy Reich's books.  Not intellectual, true, but high in entertainment value!

Kathy Reichs is a fantastic author.....actually because of her books I got interested in Forensic Anthropology and completed a class of it in my college in NE. Fantastic subject and to this day whenever I read her book or watch Bones I am instantly thrown back to one of the best and most interesting classes I ever took in college. PS my minor was in Anthro so the whole subject is captivating for me to say the least!

"The Well of Lost Plots" by Jasper Fforde. It's the third book in the Thursday Next series...re-reading them in order...great books, but I think 3 books is enough for now...when I finish this book going to take a break from Fforde and read something else :)

Pretty interesting so far.

^^ ditto 1Q84, finished it there recently and the story was overlong I reckon, some interesting things happening but in need of a good re-edit.

Reading Bill Bryson's 'Short History of Nearly Everything' (again) love his style and I'm a junkie for trivia
