I'm starting to read 1984. Cultural necessity that I've missed out on till now. Only ten pages in and already impressed. I heard a lot about it but didn't expect this!

That book will blow you away.

I'm reading David Halberstam's The Coldest Winter about the Korean War, damn fine read.

Also ploughing through The Siege of Krishnapur by J. G. Farrell, another good book.

Reading 'Infinite Jest' by David Foster Wallace and 'Last Exit to Brooklyn' by Hubert Selby Jr.

I also have a few Korean instructional books I'm trying to plow through before I arrive. 'Mastering Conversational Korean: Korean for Beginners' and 'Dirty Korean'  ;D

I am busy with one of the old classics: ANIMAL FARM! It is a great book for all ages!

It has something for small children, adults and philosophers!

If you have not read this.......I suggest you do because it is one of the greatest books of all time! :D

i just cracked the cover of a new book by Salman Rushdie called The Enchantress of Florence.  The last one I read by Rushdie was Haroun and the Sea of Stories.  I listened to a great blurb on NPR about his new works and thought it would be worth a look.  -david-

Hey, I am reading "The Hunger Games" series for the second time! :) If you have not read it, I would recommend it to anyone. It is a young adult book so it is a lower level but very interesting!

Other young adults books worth adult's attention.... anything by Rick Riordan or Brandon Mull.

Happy Reading!

By the way, if you have not been to What the Book? in Itaewon yet, you should go!

I've been reading a lot of Zen books. I like Brad Warner's writing style a lot.

I highly recommend Stephen's King's Dark Tower series, but don't start it if you don't want the rest of your life to suffer.  It will suck you in and never let you go.

I generally enjoy fantasy books, so that's the type of books I read. I just started reading a series called Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. It's quite good. I wasn't expecting it to be, but I really love it.

I would also recommend (for fantasy epic fans) Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan, the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, the Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson, and the Game of Thrones series by George R.R. Martin (the HBO TV show for that book turned out really awesome. I'd recommend either watching or reading).

Next I'm going to start Lord of the Rings. I know, I'm such a fantasy poser since I haven't even read LotR, haha.

I'm reading Me Talk Pretty One Day... It's hilarious! I'm also getting in 1984 because I haven't read it yet! If anyone knows any libraries in Daejeon with a good English section.. please post!

All of David Sedaris books are seriously funny, but that one was probably the best, haha. I'd recommend his books if you want a good laugh. He writes a series of short essays. Just little humorous anecdotes from his life. His perspective is awesome.

Also, unrelated, if you like romance, but still want a book with an actual plot and purpose, I'd recommend the Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon. I was surprised by how well written it was!

A Song of Ice and Fire question -

I read the first 2 books of the Song of Ice and Fire series and really enjoyed them.  (Game of Thrones and Clash of Kings).  However I heard that the newest book basically doesn't move the plot forward at all.  I also know G RR Martin has had a knack for writing one book every 5-7 years.

Has anyone finished the series up until A Dance with Dragons?  Is it worth it for me to read 3-5?  Or is it just a disappointment?

If you like sci-fi "Ender's Game" is great! Otherwise if you want to cry about something read "My sister's Keeper"
