F5 Visa: tax on part time jobs
« on: November 09, 2015, 01:38:00 pm »
Hi, have never really done many PT jobs due to my main job taking so much time, however I'm due to start one soon. What is the situation with tax and legality? I'm an f5 so I'm pretty sure I can do it but who pays the tax and could my main job find out in any way (for example, at tax return time)?

Your main work can find out about your extra income when they decide to do your taxes. If you signed a paper saying this wouldn't happen, they can fire you.

thanks for the reply.have you any idea how the main job finds out about extra work at the time they do the taxes?

is it possible for an employed individual to do their own tax return?

I've been here ten years, 7 of them on a f5 visa, just take your privates and get them to pay cash, or set up a separate bank account. I've never paid any tax on my privates, keep it quite.

No worries. I make more from my privates than I do from my uni job. Having the uni job gets me more privates.   ;D

Hi

Thanks for the answer. This one is through an agency so would need to see how they pay.

What if I WANTED to pay tax, but my main job not find out I had the job. Is that possible?

Why go through an agency? They are just making money from your hard work.
