Fun marathon 5K, 10K
« on: October 19, 2015, 10:50:26 am »
Anyone know why the "Nike, We Run Seoul 2015" is not held anymore?
Couldn't find any information on it.

Also, any upcoming 5K, 10K marathons coming up soon. I'm looking for a fun theme marathon.

Example: Nike Night Run, Puma Run, Color Run, Electrodash and so on.
Thanks.

I have seen the Nike We Run Seoul ads on youtube for the past week, so I'd guess it is happening. Maybe all the info is in Korea. Go watch youtube and I reckon that ad will come up within a couple of videos. It's one of those ones they force you to watch before a video.

In the UK, Australia, New Zealand, or Canada do they call a 5K/10k fun run, a marathon?

Curious as to which country Korea picked up the usage, as we only call marathons, "marathons" in the US.

Thanks.

Not NZ or Australia. A marathon is 42km. No one would apply that anything else. Sometimes you hear about half marathons, 21km.

So it's not our fault.

A lot of the silly naming of things comes from Japan originally, but I lived there and I never heard anyone calling a 10km fun run, a marathon. They've had a few famous long distance runners.

Thanks, but that is not the Nike We Run Seoul event. I think that is for another event. appreciate the help though.

Yeah adidas is doing one, but registration is over. There are always a few charities going on. I just posted that as a good way to network with other runners and do something fun. I'm sure you can challenge some of them to a race, lol.

My Korean friend mentioned to me today that he will take part in a 10K marathon on November 8th. He said it's called MBC marathon; based on the information I found about it on Naver, it sounds like it's the Adidas one.

The JoongAng Marathon is happening November 1 in my neighborhood. I'm not signed up for it, but might be willing to if someone is looking for a running partner.  Looks like it's just a full; nothing fun.

Not sure what you are on about, but that isn't the case in the US.

Perhaps you are referring to a different country...
