The poll in this post..............

Made me laugh. If you search his username you'll find his twitter advertising jobs alongside bizarre quotes with bad grammar and spelling. Why are recruiters like this?

That's something that always makes me laugh. How many Korean guys refer to themselves as CEOs because they have their own business with two to six employees.

How about all the 'engineers', the handyman dude that fixes the towel rail to the wall?
There is no known medical cure for stupidity!

Does he have another pair of size 310 white tennis shoes?

The only other roadside purchase i valued more was the battery-powered dancing Saddam Hussein doll. No word of a lie: it stopped dancing two days after he was captured in Iraq. I thought it was the batteries but to no avail, it never danced again.

It's been put in the 'Lessons Plans' section for some reason.

Don't know what it's a lesson in, but ok. Thanks for letting me know.

I'm picking one train of mod thought might be to take the thread down a notch or two. People are less inclined to go off up there and also some might just think it's been deleted or something. Out of sight, out of mind kind of thinking. Just guessing????

Gee, surprised to see Van, vandomly  ;D reply to your post Billy, after a month or so being absent around here. Must be hard at work finding a new job that ticks all the boxes...

If I see him again, I'll ask what sizes he has. I'll let him know it's for you. Where did you buy a dancing Saddam Hussein doll?

A glance is all it took, my mind is love-striken—
My body is sun soaked earth.
Thunder fell upon me and you were gone,
Like a thousand lotus blossoms
Blooming underneath my sorrows.

Does anyone else cringe when people use other languages other than English or Korean is some groups online?

There's this person in the Korea Times coments who always puts Russian, Viet or Japanese blurbs at the end of their coments. It's so cringey.

And people who reply in Spanish or French to an English post in a Korean FB group............. Why?

Either
A) You understand English when you read the post. Therefore you understand the langauge and can write in the OPs original language.
B) You don't understand English so you took the post and put it in a translation app. Which means you know how to use a translation app. So use it again with YOUR language back into English and then write the English in the comments to reply.
C) You don't understand English and didn't translate the OP and then just replied in your native language. You are mentally ill.

If there's a Thai person in a Gwangju group who writes in Thai in THEIR post? Honestly, I'll prob just ignore the post. They're asking for something from other Thai people, let them at it. But it's incumbent on the commenter to go with the flow of the post, and in the Korea Times comments, it's Kor or Eng, sorry.

Maybe if the story is ABOUT Thailand or something, it gets a pass, but damn. The story is in English language so either you understand English or you're already using translation apps. Get with the program!

I am a smile drowning in tears
I am the silence at the end of your journey

I prefer the old school way of foreign language snobbery by injecting Latin/Ancient Greek/French into everything to make yourself sound smart.

I prefer the old school way of foreign language snobbery by injecting Latin/Ancient Greek/French into everything to make yourself sound smart.

Whereas I prefer to make fun of such people through the medium of 16th century poetry.

...‘Speke, Parrot, I pray you,’ full curtesly they say;
‘Parrot is a goodly byrd, a prety popagey.’

With my becke bent, my lyttyl wanton eye,
My fedders freshe as is the emrawde grene,
About my neck a cyrculet lyke the ryche rubye,
My lytyll leggys, my feet both fete and clene,
I am a mynyon to wayt uppon a quene;
‘My proper Parrot, my lyttyl prety foole.’
With ladyes I lerne, and go with them to scole.

‘Hagh, ha, ha, Parrot, ye can laugh pretyly!’
‘Parrot hath not dyned of al this long day;’
‘Lyke ower pus cate, Parrot can mewte and cry.’
In Lattyn, in Ebrew, Araby, and Caldey;
In Greke tong Parrot can bothe speke and say,
As Percyus, that poet, doth reporte of me,
Quis expedivit psittaco suum chaire?

Dowse French of Parryse Parrot can lerne,
Pronounsynge my purpose after my properte,
With, Perliez byen, Parrot, ou perlez rien;
With Douch, with Spanysh, my tong can agre;
In Englysh to God Parrot can supple:
Cryst save Kyng Henry the viii., our royall kyng,
The red rose honour to florysh and sprynge!

With Kateryne incomparable, our ryall quene also,
That pereles pomegarnet, Chryst save her noble grace!
Parrot, saves habler Castiliano,
With fidasso de cosso in Turkey and in Trace;
Vis consilii expers, as techith me Horace,
Mole ruit sua, whose dictes ar pregnaunte,
Soventez foys, Parrot, en sovenaunte.

...

Let Parrot, I pray you, have lyberte to prate,
For aurea lyngya Greca ought to be magnified,
Yf it were cond perfytely, and after the rate,
As lyngua Latina in scole matter occupyed;
But our Grekis theyr Greke so well have applyed
That hey cannot say in Greke, rydynge by the way,
"How, hosteler, fetche my hors a botell of hay!"

Also along a highway! At one of those big highway stops with plenty of restaurants. Pre-jeep, the bus i was on stopped for 15 minutes and i wandered into the shop out front that sells various knickknacks like spinning toys, car decorations, pocket knives, camping accessories, old music cds, w.h.y. And a half dozen battery-powered dolls were for sale and only one caught my eye, my jaw wide open. It was about 20,000 won 20 years ago though i would have paid twice that. Stunning at the time. Baghdad was just starting to be invaded. CNN was broadcasting nightly from rooftops.
