Every time I get on the crowded bus after work, I am forced to watch broadcasts on the television affixed just behind the driver's seat. Those broadcasts are not thoughtful discussions about Korean history, or even reports about important contemporary issues that citizens should know about. Rather we are subjected to vivid shots of food being prepared that are followed by the grotesque image of a man (usually) taking an enormous dumpling, or rice roll, or sandwich, and cramming it into his mouth to the tremendous amusement of those sitting around him on that inane program.

There is a pipe under the sink, not like the male bathroom three years ago, where there was no pipe and you'd get wet feet when washing your hands.

I remember there was a sink in one of the bathrooms at one of my former public schools in the past that also had a pipe missing for some reason, so my feet would always get splashed/wet whenever I'd wash my hands. It was annoying.

A load of birds (the feathery types) made their nests on the roof just above my classroom.  It's lovely watching them coming and going and bombing down outside my window.  When I looked out now they were flying around, and there must have been at least 100.  I was more of an ornithologist, I'd be able to identify them.  Thy're not swallows but they fly in a similar fashion.
Could be swifts.
They look a bit like swallows, and are similarily acrobatic, but are actually related to hummingbirds. Unlike hummingbirds, several species live in Asia.

Hello Mr.Demartino, you might not want to reveal too many details but I've always been curious...what field of work are you in now?

I've always wondered what kind of job allows you to read and post on here all day, every day, without ever taking a break?  Also...are they looking for more people because teaching is getting a bit tiring and I'd like a nice break
Without giving away too many details, basically my job gives me long streteches of boredom with little to do, punctuated by a periodic 'hell week'.

Ah cool, I didn't realise you were a teacher.  Thanks for the quick reply.

I think mine are doing it the week after Chuseok, but my co-teacher needed a class of mine last week to prepare for mid-terms, but classes haven't been cancelled for this week, so I'm assuming they are after Chuseok.

Yes and no. I work two jobs, one of which involves teaching (and no, the other isn't flipping burgers or tending bar).

To be fair, most European languages that lack the "th" sound also pronounce it as a "d" sound.

An agent of the Korean Ministry of Culture, cyber division? If so, stellar job! Although you failed to out those Russkie provocateurs that were hanging around on Waygook for a year or two.  >:(

That sounds like an evil German aristocrat impersonating an evil French aristocrat.

Also, I wanna modify my comment to "most unRomantic European languages"
Ze French, zey speak ze "th" like ze "z". Alzough come to zink of it, ozer times zey say ze "th" as a "t" such as when zey speak of ze atlétique té at ze discotèque.
