Haha he sounds weird.  He must really hate beards

I have a large beard myself and luckily haven't had to deal with anything like that in school.  Outside of school reactions vary though!

The beard thing:

My usual response is, "You think beards are low class?"

"Yes!"

Open wallet:

1000 Won - "Is he low class?"
5000 Won - "What about him?"
10000 Won - "or him?"
"You know in Canada, we have a word for people who can't grow beards." - 50 000 Won.

Sometimes I feel like my coT is Jeeves and I'm Wooster.

The KT who sits next to me will use her free time to study English. She really, really wants to be able to have an English conversation with me, and she has this language learning software that has her repeat phrases back in English, and she always uses my name as part of the practice.

Makes me feel bad that I haven't been studying Korean as much as I could.

Ive been watching a lot of Jeeves and Wooster lately, and I cant help but feel i take the Jeeves role.

"If you say so, Sir"
"If you think it's best, Sir"

Some random statement of agreement, then back to doing whatever it was I was doing anyway

My co asked me (again) when I'm going to Japan, so I told her and she looked a little disappointed and said she had just received an official document saying that I could go to Dokdo on those days. Too bad I'll be in Tokyo and can't make it. (Why would I want to spend my vacation going to those little rocks?)

Yeah I got that notice too but I'll be in Japan at the time as well  I'd actually take them up on the trip if it meant time off from school but as it is a propaganda trip to Dokdo ranks just underneath a visit to the dentist on my list of preferred vacation plans.

A KT just handed me a plum and told me it's good for constipation.

Next: I don't really understand why anyone would think Dokdo has ANY appeal to most foreigners. So glad I never get approached or asked about this.

What is the selling point? "Did you know this is actually ours?"

Uhhh, okay?

I think they're banking on noobs with no vacation plans to jump at this haha. The itinerary did say they'll stop at Ulleungdo first though... If I could just stay there maybe I'd have considered going.

This building in Ansan was a waterpark under construction, but the funding went dry and now it sits unused. Pretty badass.

Because of the new door locks on all the teachers' housing, the mornings now kick off with a series of chirruping beeps.

Those make sneaking into the house late at night nearly impossible.

Nowhere to be late at night on this island  hahah.
I live right behind my main school and can hear when people come and go from the building. Sometimes later at night I hear the sounds of glass bottles being thrown into the rubbish.

We had japchae at lunch today and one of my noodles was suspiciously thicker than all the others and I couldn't bring myself to eat it.

Does anyone know what made pretending you're a japanese porn star go viral for young kids? I'd heard my middle school students going on and on 기모티~~ 야메테~~~ one day and now 기모티 is everywhere as a slang term meaning nice/feels good/I'm generally pleased with something right now

I assume it must have been some kind of viral video or something???? But it's disturbing

This is the guy who is responsible for the meme:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRS-ZxwDsvI

It's very annoying. It seems like my students have stopped saying it as of this week, though. I think their teachers finally caught on and started cracking down.
