Apple tries to keep global prices the same, but short term forex swings can result in good deals if you catch them.

Be careful though... Korean prices include VAT, but some places (Canada, for example) do not!
UK VAT is 20%. probably why. i saved a few hundred quid when i bought my old one here, compared to if i had bought it in the UK

After historic global successes by South Korean movie "Parasite" and K-pop band BTS, South Korea will focus on further nurturing local creativity and the global sales of Korean cultural content in 2020, the culture ministry said Thursday.

To meet the policy direction, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will pour a total of 1.69 trillion won ($1.42 billion) into assistance funds to help local content creators better finance their projects

The plans were devised to promote South Korea's cultural and entertainment content as they gain ground internationally.

Korea's gonna get famous!

I have a new co-teacher who I will teach first grade with.   He's in his fifties.  Yesterday, I left school to go to Daiso before lunch to get some things for my classroom and noticed his car was running.  When I came back about half an hour later, his car was still running.  I sent him a cool messenger asking if he knew his car was running.  He sent back 'oh shit!  thanks for that, I didn't know.  It's been running for three hours'.  So basically, he came to school at 8 30, and just got out of his car and went and sat in the teachers' room.  I like him already.   :-*

Are you suggesting that 3 hours of idling would cause major damage to the engine?

It doesn't.

What on Earth is the deal with this? I see this type of thing almost everyday. I get that the engine needs to heat up in cold weather, but really, that's only for certain cars made in the 80s  (like the crappy Golf I got as a teenager). Even then, unless you're living in the North Pole, more than a minute or two is overkill. Cars made after 1995 really don't have this problem.

Even if you're running into a convenience store, just turn the damn engine off, it takes zero effort to start the thing. What's the point? Must be some pseudo BS passed down by ajjushis, like parking with your exhaust facing plants will kill them or constantly slamming the brakes saves more petrol than simply taking your foot off the accelerator.

Yeah I had to do this with my old Fiesta. Took 10 minutes to start, if someone stole it I wasnít arsed.

But a 2016 BMW? Thatís just unreal, especially when itís lumped on the pavement.

DeMart, can you explain this one?
75% of foreigners regularly hang out in Itaewon. Only about 0.001% of Koreans do.

What on Earth is the deal with this?

There's a myth cold exposure causes sickness. Ironically, the reality is it boosts the immune system. Running cars too much / using too much heat burns fossil fuels, making the air dirtier ... making people's health worse.

It most certainly can. I have worked on cars for many years and 3 hours of idling won't do it any good.

Why would it be bad? What exactly happens and why would the engine suffer major damage after 3 hours of idling?

I'm not saying it's good for the engine. The same way, regular driving is not good for an engine either because of the normal wear and such.
But it isn't doing much harm either and certainly won't kill the engine. 3 hours is not even a long time.
Doing it regularly, for longer periods than 3 hours, without driving the car much in between is probably not a good idea though.

'Voertuig" is more like 'vehicle' than 'car'.

"Motor" or "auto" would be better.

Given that he was grateful that you told him the engine was running, and I'm assuming, immediately went to turn it off, I'm guessing that he has one of them newfangled setups where the car automatically turns on or off except in certain situations and he might have done something to not have it automatically turn off.

Either that or he was hungover. Or maybe he was getting yelled at by his wife on the phone as he got out of the car.

Also, not everything a Korean person does has to be analyzed through the lens of culture. Sometimes someone just effed up and its not because of their ethnicity.

Yeah but Korean people park on the sidewalk/double park and leave their cars running (often with the door open) when they go into shops.

Why?

probably something like "i won't be long. look, the car's still running and the door's open to prove it"

Where, pray DM did someone analyze this through the lens of culture?  In fact the OP said he likes him already.

No one judged him, just offered some reasons why he may have forgotten. Stop reading things into posts, as you usually do, that simply don't exist except inside your head.
