Went to Seoul on Saturday because I had a couple of appointments. Felt like a weekday there. I could even get a seat on the subway, no matter which line or time of day it was. It was nice.

My allergies around this time of year are normally insane, and over-the-counter meds just don't work. I usually have to visit an ENT to get a shot and prescription meds.

But so far so good this year, zyrtec is enough. I'm wondering if this is because the weather has thrown off the sporing/pollination schedules for the plants from Hell, or if it's because my body is actually acclimating to the fire and brimstone.

At this point I'm more worried about a recession and what it would do to my investments, that have been doing well untill now.

Unreal there has been no clarification from the MOE’s about our contracts. Has any heard anything? Like, at all??

People saying RIP summer vacation. Well, why not RIP deskwarming then.

Like the prophet and our lord and savior DMart said. ‘We signed the contract’ in that contract, there was deskwarming but there were also 26 days vacation. Can’t have one without the other, right DMart?
75% of foreigners regularly hang out in Itaewon. Only about 0.001% of Koreans do.

Unreal that in the middle of shutting down the nation's school system right as the school year was starting to deal with a viral outbreak they determined yet what is going to happen 4 months from now given that we don't know how long this will be going on?

They don't even know what they'll do with the unionized Korean teachers yet. I think they have higher priorities at the moment and need to see how events play out.

Not sure there were closures during MERS, not that I can remember.

I don't think any schools other than individual schools where someone actually had MERS  were closed. Maybe some that were nearby, but definitely not anything at the provincial level, and certainly not at the national level.

Pyeongtaek would have had closures as they were closest to the outbreak.  My friend was getting married at that time in Pyeongtaek and the turnout at his wedding was minimal.  He got a lot of messages from people apologising for not coming but said it was because of the MERS.

Yeah, I don't really remember mandated closing of schools, but perhaps it happened. I do remember that many of my non-public school workplaces decided to close for a few days, but they weren't ordered to do so. It was in June so the weather was good and with the sudden few days off, I went way down South to camp for 3 nights or so.
Anyway, the worst of that outbreak lasted for a week or 10 days only, nothing like now.

Wikipedia mentions school closings. These numbers include kindergartens and daycares as well. The different numbers each day also suggest that there was no nationwide closing.

Number of schools closed:
2 June 2015      84
3 June 2015      214
4 June 2015      1,162
5 June 2015      1,317
7 June 2015      1,381 (7 in Gyeonggi Province)
8 June 2015      1,970
9 June 2015      2,208
15 June 2015    475

NET’s will have to take their vacation during school time then.

It’s a non negotiable part of the contract.
