I'm the only teacher in the school.

The K-teachers are off on vacation.

So I'm alone in the teachers office.

Except sometimes my boss comes to the school to check up on me:

"What are you doing?" "Next semester is important." "Make some really good materials." "What have you been working on today?" "Show me what you've prepared."

Anyone else in a similar situation?

You would say that to an education office official?

In my case it's the head teacher... who's trying to get to promoted to vice principal.

But mouthing off to anyone on school premises will end badly.

A higher-up will hear about it almost certainly.

K-teachers have different contracts.

The NET contract gives less vacation.

So I don't have a leg to stand on.

What if they aren't wearing a collar?

You're finishing at your school though, right?  If I were you I'd being fulfilling your dream of brewing macckeoeeooelllli and setting up the brewing silos etc in the classroom.  Your principal comes in, then tell him to make tofu quick smart from scratch, get the head admin guy to bring some gymchi and then you've got yourself your dream going away party.  Simplez.

I'm old-fashioned in the fact that when I'm at work, I work.  I've ordered new bookcases and sofas etc for my English room but they won't arrive until the last week of February.  So I'm keeping busy by cleaning the student's classrooms ready for when they come.  I've finished four since Tuesday.  Time is going quickly and I get to rinse out my DnB while I'm working.  The Physics teacher popped his head in for a bit and listened for a bit, shrugged, laughed and then popped his head out again.  It's all about de drums and de bass.  Rewind!

Debated over whether or not I should post this, but I'm pretty sure I caught my VP looking at porn this morning, lol.

I think he forgot that I had to be here, too, and that I get here earlier than he does, so when I walked into the main office to fill my kettle with water he shot back from his computer super quick and did a didly on his keyboard, then proceeded to tell me not to use the door closest to his desk for the rest of the day.

:undecided:
Now now, he could be internet gambling or gaming.

...or...he could be working on a write up complaint about Chinguetti. (Or maybe some other confidential information he wouldn't want her to have knowledge of.) Would be awkward / inappropriate for her to see it.

Was talking with my VP yesterday before going home and he mentioned that he thinks that my teaching philosophy and how I work is like '페스탈로치'.  Haven't heard of him, so did a bit of digging.

Quote
Pestalozzi was a Romantic who felt that education must be broken down to its elements in order to have a complete understanding of it. Based on what he learned by operating schools at Neuhof, Stans, Burgdorf and Yverdon, he emphasized that every aspect of the child's life contributed to the formation of their personality, character, and capacity to reason. Pestalozzi's educational methods were child-centered and based on individual differences, sense perception, and the student's self-activity. Pestalozzi worked in Yverdon to "elementarize" the teaching of ancient languages, principally Latin, but also Hebrew and Greek. In 1819, Stephan Ludwig Roth came to study with Pestalozzi, and his new humanism contributed to the development of the method of language teaching, including considerations such as the function of the mother tongue in the teaching of ancient languages. Pestalozzi and Niederer were important influences on the theory of physical education; they developed a regimen of physical exercise and outdoor activity linked to general, moral, and intellectual education that reflected Pestalozzi's ideal of harmony and human autonomy.[26]

Pestalozzi's philosophy of education was based on a four-sphere concept of life and the premise that human nature was essentially good. The first three "exterior" spheres—home and family, vocational and individual self-determination, and state and nation—recognized the family, the utility of individuality, and the applicability of the parent-child relationship to society as a whole in the development of a child's character, attitude toward learning, and sense of duty. The last "exterior" sphere—inner sense—posited that education, having provided a means of satisfying one's basic needs, results in inner peace and a keen belief in God.

24/25. The only one that I didn't get was "Too lazy to sort the trash." Because... seriously, that's pretty lazy. And it's not hard to sort your recycling.

Yeah, I missed two. Same one as you and I have never actually ordered delivery in the 7 years I've been here. I don't see the point. I'd rather eat out.
