Reminds me of the dried squid people like to bust out for a quick nibble while riding in a packed out KTX car. People are quite rapid to shush you if your conversation is ever so slightly disturbing, but horrific, foul-smelling dried puke fuel, dragged up from the bottom of the polluted ocean? Naaaa thats cool G. Crack on.
Meh. one person's puke fuel is another person's Mrs. Field's.

I do try to refrain from strong smelling foods in enclosed spaces, and I wasn't a fan of dried squid at first, but that stuff's grown on me. Anyways, if seafood bothers you, East Asia is not the place for you. That's one of those "comes with the territory" things. Sort of like sand and the Middle East.

I used to smoke and not once did I feel the need to spit. I've only had one friend, back home, who spat while he smoked.

Back home, only the lowest of low gangster wannabes used to spit, while walking, to show how tough they are.
When it comes to Koreans, the only logical deduction I can arrive it is that BS Confucian beliefs claimed that phlegm was harmful to the body and should be excreted ASAP.
Dude, if a Korean chooses a strawberry shake at McDonald's, you'll link it to something to do with Confucianism. Not everything has to do with Confucianism. Your deduction isn't logical.

Personally speaking as someone who smokes, I knew people back home who smoked. Most were more "rustic", yes. Me personally, smoking does cause a mild irritation and a weird taste that does make me want to spit it out. Of course if I inhale a particularly bad odor, I'll have to spit or else I'll start to wretch. This is why whenever I smoke outside, it's always by like a storm drain or a bush so I can spit into somewhere not straight into the street.

As to whether this prevents cancer or not, I imagine the effect is rather minimal, but you probably would see a slight statistical difference in rates of oral, esophageal, and stomach cancer between the two groups, but it would probably be very marginal indeed. I mean, that lifetime of highly-infused with tar and nicotine phlegm swallowed vs. not swallowed surely would have some effect. Then again, who knows? Maybe the ensuing dry mouth from spitting leads to other issues that increase your risk of certain diseases and conditions.

Anyways, as I've said, if someone is okay with people's stupid dogs pissing on the street, then they shouldn't have an issue with spitting. Either both are wrong or neither. Is there really a substantive difference between pet piss and phlegm? It's the alleyway next to a bar, it's already all kinds of filthy.

One noteable difference is that piss is sterile while phlegm is a great carrier for all sorts of contagions.

And they're both 100% uncivilized: irresponsible dog owners and spitters should both be forced to lick the concrete clean when they're caught fouling it.  >:(

Are we surprised?  We're discussing 'a' and martin pops in with irrelevant 'b' and 'c' .  republican to the bone.

These days, my 3rd grade have finished their uni test so they just sit around chatting, sleeping etc, and there is no need for teaching them, so I sit in as they should always have a teacher in the classroom.  Cool, no probs, I have student's school report stuff to do.  Yesterday when I went to one class they were watching this terrible 'hi-teen' film called 'When we first met' with Adam Devine and Alexandra Daddario.  Craparino.  Anyway, it was funny, as I'm working but obviously can understand without watching, but it was when one actress said 'I'll cut your balls off' that they all turned around a looked at me, and I did an eye roll, they laughed (the translation was funny).  Then, later on, there was a 'hey, fook you'.  Cut to them all looking around me and eye-rolling again.  They're 18, whatever.  Thing was it's down as a '12' by our ratings.  It reminded me of the time my co-teacher in middle school years ago, who put on 'Love Actually' but not the cut one.  So when the porn actor and actress were nude my co-teacher was scurrying over to the computer to skip it.  The middle school boys didn't seem to mind.

Actually it's completely relevant, You're just declaring it irrelevant because it shows how inconsistent your standards are and how you arbitrarily apply them.

Unsanitary behavior in public- Okay for me, but not for thee!

It's been a while since we've had one of the more insufferable, childish trolls on this site.

They never have the quick wit or cleverness to be at least halfway entertaining about it. It's always the same persona and the same incessant rheeeee of payattentiontome.

What I wouldn't give to have at least another sonny or alonzo.

Are you talking about KimchiNinja? Dude is so low effort, it hurts.

Alonzo was objectively the best.
Sonny was pretty  great, too. Barely a troll, though. Just like, a weird meta angel.

Alonzo was a real person. Not a troll. I came across him on facebook, commenting on something, a few months after he posted here. I cant remember what it was, i think it was some Koreacentric news story. Anyway, i clicked through his profile. Unless it's some elaborate long game where he had got a bunch of photos, written posts years back and posted around the internet in this persona, he wasn't a troll, he's real dude who seems a bit.... i'm not sure. I do know I felt a bit sad after i found this out and he genuinely seemed to be having problems in Korea.

tbf, there are very dedicated trolls out there.

But I can definitely believe that Alonzo is a genuine person who was expressing genuine frustration. It's too bad he wasn't able to get the support he wanted from here. But his posts were so... out there.

I love trolls though because they're so over the top and entertaining that you know in real life they're probably quite normal.

I get more worried about some of the stuff I read from non-trolls

Not really, but he certainly said things for effect. Weaving a tale of sarcasm and ridiculousness to make to stir us up a bit.

It was in jest, but it was definitely mocking and troll ultra-lite.

Not a troll, but anyone recall Smaug of one of his other iterations? Didn't he have like multiple accounts that were rather similar?

I've come to the conclusion that you don't really exist, Alex.  If that is your real name.  England?    no way.  British people are waaaaayyyy too happy to leave England.  I mean who would leave a country that has country pubs with real ale and beer gardens in the summer or country pubs in the winter with real ale and a burning hot open fire inside.  Huh?  Or any number of really decent ethnic food restaurants on your doorstep.  Or playing football with your mates on real soggy grass and doing slide tackles, and the winner is usually the person who is the dirtiest at the end of the game.  You from England?  Never sunshine!  It's like Legolas leaving Rivendell, I mean just look at it, beautiful nature and all the elves living together with their pointy ears and with birds the quality of Arwen there, never going to happen sunshine.  England?

My favorite part about winter here is watching people in cars drive around like they are on the dodgems at a fair ground and witnessing the shock on people's faces when their KIA mcmuffin slides off the road like Kim Yuna in her prime. My second favorite is watching people burn their tongue off on one of those fish shaped hot snacks from the ahjumma cooking them in washing up gloves and utensils dirtier than my bathroom floor. My third and final favorite thing about winter here is watching people drive around with a foot of snow on their car windscreen and roof with a tiny small pizza size hole for maximum visibility plowing down kids and the elderly at every possible occasion. Actually my favorite part of winter time is watching taxi drivers bomb around like ice won't effect them because they served 18 months in the army in their 20s and the rules of the road and life in general don't apply to them.

Or

I do love to see a delivery  scooter or old **** on a scooter on the side walk with the wheels up in the air and a pair of those knock off addidas slippers 100m down the pavement with an obliterated Samsung XXX50z smartphone flying into pieces like shrapnel from a nail grenade.
Who is here in 2019?

I liked Smaug.
Also liked Splongebob, who was a tiny bit troll-y
Ramblesofftopic was a classic as well.
I thought Frozencat was a troll account for quite a while too, before realizing he was serious about all the stuff he posted. Whoops.

Alzono was amazing. He only started like a handful of threads, but each one I remember went positively nuclear. It was like frickin performance art.

While not a troll, the lady who showed up and complained about her sleeping in the inlaws laundry room or whatever was great.

There have been various others like that where someone will post a one-off that somehow brings the entire community together in either being in on the joke or completely roasting whoever dared to try and trash our dysfunctional family.
