I wanna die

Went to a site to get an image for a kid for a class project

Ad pops up

It's porn

It was on the projector

Brb kms

This happened to me on Friday. Though, the students didn't know what 'cricket' is, so I decided to use the internet to show them. And the first ad on the website, was a porn ad. And couldn't close it for 15 seconds. Had to 'nope' out of that site quick. It wasn't a pop-up ad.
Luckily, the students were just talking to each other while the web browser was loading, and while I was searching. (The PC is a fossil and takes forever to load stuff), so no student saw the ad.
Why aren't you just google image searching this stuff and then showing them the pics there?

I already had pictures in the ppt. My co-teacher suggested a video, or website showing them.
I had been searching on youtube, but couldn't find any decent videos at the time. I didn't know Korean students didn't know about cricket until this class, so I didn't prepare a video before it. So I decided to try find a website that might show them how to play instead.

By decent I mean, showed all aspects of it. The ones I was finding, only really showed batting, and not even of them running, or what happens once a fielder gets the ball.

Cricket wasn't even a/the theme of the lesson, it was just something I used in an example of using the key expression/dialog.

I think picking up a coffee habit later in life is akin to smoking.  It's not good for you, costs money, unnecessary and gives you disgusting breath.

It's cheaper than and not as bad for me as the energy drinks I had been drinking, so it's a net gain.

I hadn't really heard anything about plain ol' black coffee being bad for me, though. What have you heard? Something "gives you lung cancer"-level bad?

Plain black coffee, or even coffee with a bit of milk, is literally not bad for you unless you're drinking excessive amounts. If you're having like one or two cups of coffee (or the equivalent in cold brew or whatever), there shouldn't be any negative effects to your health. It may stain your teeth a bit, but depends on your teeth.

Compared to drinking energy drinks, or cola, or anything similar to that, coffee is 100% safe.

Unless you put literal poison in it.

I'd much rather enjoy a cold glass of milk any day.

Coffee or milk isn't really the choice I was making, though. I wanted a caffeine source, and since most milk I'm familiar with isn't caffeinated, it was coffee or Red Bull, haha.

If the end goal was "enjoy the taste of what I'm drinking," I wouldn't go with coffee. I wouldn't really go with milk there, either, though. A cold Pepsi is where it's at for me.

...Unless it's strawberry milk. Then I'm down.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to say that coffee is really bad for you, just that it doesn't offer any benefit that makes it worth getting over a distaste for it.  I don't drink colas or any sodas or energy drink.  I avoid caffeine as much as possible.  I also find co-workers and friends that make a big to-do about not being able to start their day until they get their coffee annoying.  I'm always surprised by the number of coffee drinkers that need to announce their intent to get a cup of coffee.  Who else would be interested? Maybe I should be posting on the rant thread now.

Wasn't there a story just last week about some sates passing a law that would require Starbucks et al, to print a cancer warning on their cups?

It's just small talk.
It isn't really about the coffee at all.

That's what I always assumed that kind of talk was.  People crying out for human connection (even in the smallest form) in an otherwise endless sea of deafening silence.

With the current topic of coffee, addiction, and cliches, I feel that this is now relevant:

Who has had their morning coffee then?

I'm on cup 2. Illy, yum yum!

Black and strong for me. Occasionally a splash of milk when I get an urge for something lighter but it doesn't happen often.

I like my coffee, like I like my women...

...in a cup.

Do not Google Image search "women in a cup" in order to post a witty photo in response to Dave's comment.

Good coffee - black.
Average coffee, however, can be used as a substrate for cream and sugar.

I have to use milk and sugar. I can drink black coffee if it's good, but I still prefer it mild, partially for taste, but also because I can't handle pure, unadulterated caffeine.

*slurps blasphemy*

My rambling for the day.

Sort of related but also not about anyone in particular.

I feel really torn when it comes to disagreeing with people on the internet. It's often pointless/silly but sometimes I really want to. People can be so ridiculous.

I remember when I first joined this site, I said something stupid and I got schooled.

It changed my perspective a bit, even though I was only half a year in I felt like I knew it all. So the slight telling off really brought me back down to earth.

So yeah...I dunno.

Also I just love a good row, especially when I can win.  ;D ;D
