Found this on my elem. coT's desk. And so it starts...

Do you know about it?
Do you know?

Do you?
두유 두개?

I was hoping for a simple "You?" But I'll take it 8)

I got a text message from my school that apparently some (Korean) dude on some social media or another has made an anonymous, vague threat that he is planning to to kidnap an unspecified fourth grade female elementary school student in the Gangnam area this coming Thursday, so police presence will be especially visible. Weird. Wish I knew more specifics.

We're having an all day market day today, so the 교과 teachers are charged with patrolling the grounds.

Theory: waygook.org "replies" button fails, not because the servers are busy, but because the website owner gets paid to serve an advert even if it doesn't work.

Twice the clicks, twice the cash!

Would you rather have 2 wily mosquitoes or 20 freakishly large Korean kamikaze fruit flies fluttering around in your one-room?

Also, we lost one of our best agents today. He was so good I never realized his real name was YoungMin until after he passed.  It wasn't the bullet to the brain, the bullet to the lungs, the bullet to the heart, the bullet to the back or the bullet to the balls that finally did him in.

It was Pecan.

Fruit flies. I'd take 100 over Wile E. mosquitoes.

I'd take fruit flies any day.  I can't sleep at night if I know there's a mosquito in the room.

Agreed. I'll take the fruit flies. The sound of mosquitoes when they fly past your ear while you're trying to sleep?

Ugh. Nope.

Screw that. I can kill 2 mosquitos in a matter of minutes.

20 fruit flies? (or 100????) That's going to take forever.

I always thought mosquitoes were the bigger nuisance, but the fruit flies have really gone deranged this season. Of course the mosquitoes have yet to come out in full force this year...

Ahh thank you! I was just about to ask if anyone knew a way to get rid of the mosquitoes. Also, has anyone gotten the Japanese encephalitis vaccination? My mom keeps mentioning I should get it but my co said the encephalitis is super rare.

Before I came here (2.5 years ago) the travel health clinic in Winnipeg told me not to bother.

That's the thing. I do! It's the food that can't be refrigerated that's the problem. Damn bananas.

I got it, but for a trip to India. Not to come here.

It is very rare. If you are going to be in the countryside, real rural and near pig farming or rice farming, especially in Jeju you could maybe consider it. The few people who do get it in Korea would be farm workers.

The risk of contracting the JE virus and it developing into encephalitis is lower than the risk of complications from the vaccine.
