All this talk of cakes and food shows is making me rather peckish

I hope tonight's teacher dinner is good.

I love my school's teacher dinners. They're always at a decent restaurant, I always get to choose whether I'm sitting with 5학년, 6학년 or 교과 teachers, so I can choose whether I want to sit with chatty peeps or not, and they always end super early. It's literally free food and a couple of beers and then I just get to go home. Convenience levels are maximum.

Efff I just remembered that we're having 회.  I love me some good Japanese style sushi but I don't understand the Korean kind.  Especially the type that still has bones.  I don't even know what fish I'm eating.

I'd rather eat samgyupsal and I don't even like samgyupsal.

Same. I've been trying to fill the void with a lot of coffee/cocoa/tea, but it isn't working.

Pretty sure I've had flounder before and enjoyed it.  But cooked.

Rockfish?? If something's got rock in the name then why did anyone consider it appetizing?  (I realize in Korean the name may mean something else but still. I am just whingeing)

^That video...    I gotta watch more.

During volleyball, arseface got reprimanded by the others because he literally would run in front of me when the ball was headed toward me, bungling the shots.  Ha!  Serves him right.

Rockfish dinner wasn't a total bust-- one table had a soup alternative that wasn't too bad.  And thank goodness for sides.  But it was kind of awkward because one of the new teachers was asking my coT questions about me and while I could tell they were talking about me, I couldn't tell what about.  I feel like it's so strange to talk about someone in front of his/her face even if it's harmless.   :lipsrsealed:

Later I gathered the tables were conversing about hair for some reason and the only thing my coT translated to me was that the new teacher had noticed I have some silver hairs. Okay??  :undecided: Like I'm well aware, I just think it's weird that a new teacher would point it out and that that was the only thing my coT bothered to translate.

Looking into taking a May trip with Wink, and it's a bike trip to the little Japanese island of Tsushima. Looking through the Wiki page and apparently Korea tries to claim that one too.

The Simpsons probably has this exact conversation in one of their episode scripts somewhere.

I went there some years back, and there are some camp grounds where you can rent a large tent for a cheap price (10 bucks-ish). Since it will be may, it should be open and probably pretty empty. Just down from the camp grounds is a sauna, and also a nice calm beach/inlet to take a dip. However, in the summer there are some massive bugs (but don't bite/sting, that I know of).

I'm wondering if I could do it for a whole lot cheaper than the Wink trip. I don't really have any camping gear, but I could likely borrow a sleeping bag from a friend.

I really want to save a good bit of money this year (she says...almost half way through the year and not having much saved by this point)

but I really don't want to be one of those people....

I need to find a balance where I am buying everything I want and need but still saving money. Hmmmmm.

I think the key it to decide where the want/need line is. Once you know where it is, you can choose to indulge your wants as a conscious choice.

Yes.  I don't ever need anything off Coupang but it's nice to indulge in some comfort foods every so often.  Usually it's also cheaper than hitting up a city on a weekend where I'm likely to drop more money on non-Korean restaurants and misc. entertainment.
