"You cultural fascists have struck again.

"You have shown you will say most anything, and do most anything to advance your radical agenda. But thatís not enough, is it? Your intent is to ban any opposition. Your goal is to ban even the expression of dissension....

"Whatís next? How long will it take for you to demand that the American flag be removed? Itís a natural progression.

"Youíll talk about Abu Ghraib. Youíll reach back to the My Lai massacre. Youíll find any excuse to besmirch the Stars and Stripes.

"What about the Cross? You think itís a symbol of religious oppression. The KKK solemnly sets it ablaze in their ceremonies. Youíll want that banned, too. In fact President Obama has already demanded it be covered if he speaks in front of one.

"Tear down your own damn flags. The 'Unabomber' Ted Kaczynski was a terrorist, and a murderer, and a supporter of Greenpeace. Tear down your environmentalist flags.  There are black racists waving  black power flags. Tear them all down.

"A gay fanatic shot and grievously wounded a security guard at the Family Research Council. His intent was to murder as many employees as possible. Tear down all LGBT flags.

"But you wonít, of course. You cultural fascists are also raving hypocrites."

I think to these protesters the Confederate flag is an expression of southern pride. Tolerance is a two way street- a lesson that needs to be learned by many.

Following this thread to make a mental headcount of how many white supremacists are hanging out on Waygook. The total is already rather dismayingly high.

"Confederate Flag Store Owner Who Said It Has ďNothing to Do With SlaveryĒ Has Close Ties to the KKK"

Unfortunately for Mrs. Robb, today it came out that she and her husband have very close ties to the Ku Klux Klan. Very close. As in, her husbandís father is the national director.

But it's not about race or slavery right?

You should check out the Michael Brown and Ferguson threads. They came out like roaches back then.

Like the confederate flag supporter who told a black man to 'go back to where he came from?'

Tolerate symbols of slavery, oppression, and racial segregation? Hmm. Let's see what Edmund Burke has to say about that...

That itself is the problem.

The "south" is known for:
-stubborn resistance of civil rights
-open espousal of segregation
-legal racism
-slavery
-lynching
-lenient punishments (if any) for murdering blacks
-fat people
-teen pregnancy
-low academic achievement
-swamp people
-meth
-attempting to overthrow the government of the United States and losing
-being behind on absolutely everything associated with progress and the betterment of the human condition
-religious fundamentalism
-unhealthy food
-back-woods wisdom over critical analysis
-poor people consistently voting against their interests
-wet heat
-mosquitoes
-idiots in pickup trucks looking to start trouble

Is there anything I missed?  What, exactly, does the "south" have to proud of?  The only things that have come out of the south and contributed positively to the world have been from black people:
-jazz
-soul food
-blues
-most dances
-the roots of ALL modern popular music on EARTH

all of which were born of tumultuous circumstances created by racist white people over hundreds of years.  Sure, most people are just trying to get on with their lives these days and aren't out hassling black people, but there is still absolutely nothing about the "south" that should fill anyone with pride other than those who celebrate its heritage of racial segregation, disdain for education, and violence.  When people say they are just demonstrating "southern pride" (an absurd concept is itself), I really have no idea what they could possibly mean other than their support, or at least nostalgia, for a time when their predecessors sought to undo the union of American states and carry on with slavery.

Astoundingly, these people are often found uttering things like "if you don't like it, you can leave" as they simultaneously wave the battle flag of a once-hostile and since-dissolved government that waged war on the nation they claim to be defending.  This chasm of intellectual discontinuity perfectly demonstrates just how stupid (not differently minded, but stupid) these people are.  They deserve to be criticised at every moment and without relief.

Criticism of stupidity is not the same as intolerance.  Bad ideas must always be attacked without end until they are dead.  Good ideas can withstand criticism.  Bad ideas require idiots with guns and middle school education to shout in the streets in order to be heard.

Tolerating everything is stupid.  Criticising and (correctly) pointing out the mental deficiencies of confederate flag bearers is the duty of all rational people who prefer to live in a world that rewards progress rather than clinging to the failures of bad ideas and bad people.
