Had my ARC renewed
« on: April 08, 2015, 07:45:49 am »
I had my ARC renewed.  It turns out that on the back of my card there was no space to put an additional address for my new residence.  I've had the same card for 3 years and moved each time so NOW I need a brand new ARC card.  I had to take a new pic and all.  I submitted my request on the 20th. of March but then I ran into problems where they said that I didn't submit xyz forms blah blah.   Cut to the chase, I finally had everything tidied up on the 24th of March.  They said it would take about 2 weeks.  Cut to today and I still have no ARC card.   Does anyone have an accurate and up to date time frame of when I should get the new card.  Being in this country and doing business with out it is beginning to be a PAIN!

Call 1345.

If you need your card you can request a letter from immigration that will act as the card until you have it in hand. Your ARC number is still valid so you can do stuff with banking and such.

Which immigration office did you go to, to apply for your new ARC? I lost my ARC a few years ago and had to apply for a new one (although even if I hadn't lost it, I would have had to apply for a new one within that year, as the back of my old one was also full/didn't have any space for a new address), and I think it only took about a week for me to get my new one. However, I went to a small immigration office that wasn't busy; I'm guessing if you went to a large immigration office that's very busy, it could take longer.

I went to the one in 화정 Hwa Jeong Station.   They are known to be busy at times.  I'm really hoping to get it this week.

Update!   Thanks for posting the number.  Turns out the post man will deliver it today or tomorrow!  Thank goodness!  Thanks for all the info guys.  I saw too many old blog postings about ARC cards in Korea and was getting conflicting information like 3-4 weeks or even 3 months if the office of immigration is backed up.  *phew
