I found this file while I was searching through my lessons plan from last year. I'm surprised I didn't post it up here already, it's a pretty decent lesson in a can. Review of the "Who, What, Where, Why, When, How", and article on "The best job in the world" for reading comprehension and a little exercise that is a lot of fun if you have creative students!

Procedure is pretty straight forward, just follow the powerpoint and the handout. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hey Lisa,

Is it possible to post this in ppt form? I tried upgrading to Office2007 but no go.

Dear Lisa,

I've been using this lesson with my high schoolers for the week and it has been such a big help! Oftentimes, my students can read something, find the correct answer for the questions based on what they've read, however; they have no idea what the questions or answers mean. This really helped me address that!

Thanks again,
Lea

Hey this lesson worked well for me thanks :D ! I showed the video from you tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTUUWOV4Vns ( about the Australian best job in the world ) and got the students to answer some questions before they created their own best jobs in groups. here's the worksheet

great idea! i would suggest you play the sinking ship game.

there are 20 people on a ship each with different occupations. the ship suddenly sinks and you must take 5 other people with you to an deserted island. who will you take and why?
