I've been saying this for years. There's no point trying to teach people here how to drive without running into things. The best solution is for Korea to start making their cars and boats out of pool noodles.

Something like this should do the trick.

Wow, I totally missed that, and I live in Shinan. That ferry run out to Hong-Do and Heuksan-Do is kind of fun, when the ocean isn't being crazy. It even runs out to Gageo-Do, which is a very interesting island, and I think the furthest out into the "West Sea."

That God there were no deaths.

But this was the second inking of a ferry within the year 2014.

I will not wait until strike three to say that I will not ride on Korean ferries to Jeju or anywhere in the costal areas.

Gotta love how cars have tons of accidents but people still ride them without a second thought, and yet we have people who are swearing off ferries because of two incidents.  It's almost like people aren't capable of critical thinking.

2 incidents, one where almost 300 people died.  Don't know the last time where a single car accident caused that many deaths.

In any case, it comes down to percentages.  How many trips result in death versus successful transport?  Even though the raw number of deaths for cars is much higher, people ride ferries much, much more rarely than the ride in cars or buses.  I'd guess that, based on this year's stats, at least, your chance of death on a ferry trip, per ride, is higher than that of a car.

Just to be accurate, this ferry didn't sink.  Running aground and sinking out at sea are quite different.

That God there were no deaths.

I guess he cared more for these passengers than those young kids on the Sewol. Pretty choosy about who he helps, don't ya think?
