Looking for an English speaking ENT
« on: May 20, 2014, 08:29:55 am »
Hi everyone,

I am hoping to go scuba diving for the first time, this summer, but am hesitant due to some previous health issues, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good English speaking consult in Korea that I could go to to get looked at and pose my questions.

Thank-you

Chaya

Just the other day I heard there was an English speaking ENT in Cheongju who was really good. Two stops after sacheongsaegori (the chungdae stop) going away from shinae, I believe the stop is called the chungdae university main gate (충주대학교입고) or something like that.

I don't know the name unfortunately, but it's in that area somewhere...

OP, Naver is a really good search engine for services

Some searches will be okay with English or if you use google translate and search that you can find tons of places googlemaps miss.

http://search.naver.com/search.naver?where=nexearch&query=%EC%B6%A9%EC%A3%BC+ENT&sm=top_hty&fbm=1&ie=utf8

http://search.naver.com/search.naver?sm=tab_hty.top&where=nexearch&ie=utf8&query=%EC%B6%A9%EC%A3%BC+%EC%9D%B4%EC%97%94%ED%8B%B0&x=0&y=0

EDIT: Sorry, I had class and forgot to add. Doctors have to pass a certain level of English before they can become doctors (This was said to me by a doctor I was teaching once. Also, medical terms and medicine are in English). So whilst you might have problems in the reception area. It would be rare to find a doctor who had zero English skills. Any ENT should be fine for your needs.

Since you're in Cheongju, I assume you're diving with DeepBlueQuest.  I know Russel is on base, but he's been in the area for a long time, and he ought to be able to recommend an English speaking doctor that's not military-affiliated, or maybe weasel you access to one who is.

Failing that, head up to Seoul and visit the international clinic in Itaewon.  The guy there will sign you off on whatever you want.  I don't know how he is at actual diagnoses though.
