(I've heard there's a form called finding a job plan?)  .

Where is this form on the hikorea website?

I posted this form on the previous page.  Here it is again with another form I scanned.

Hi,

Really helpful section; however, I'm hoping I might be able to squeeze a little more specific info outta someone. I'm currently on an E-7 visa that will expire in March 2018. I plan on quitting this November. There are no workplace issues, I just don't want to work anymore and enjoy my final few months in Korea before I leave in March. I understand I need a large volume of documents for immigration, I'm more concerned with not having a letter of release. Obviously as I'm quitting for no discernible reason, other than I do not enjoy my work and hate where I live, I'm not expecting my employer to grant an LOR.  Do you think I will be able to get a D-10? I have enough money to comfortably last a year. I am, at least to immigration, seeking employment so is it really a big deal if I quit? I mean, it's quite common in the West to quit if you don't enjoy your work. Is quitting perceived as that serious that it could harm you receiving a new job-seeking visa?

Any pertinent info is greatly appreciated!
Thank You.

You either need a LOR or a completed contract to get a D10. I would find a cheap ticket to Japan and come back as a tourist but that will only give you 3 months.

Thanks for your reply; I've been receiving conflicting information from online sources and immigration. It seems, under Korean law, a letter of release is not required but has become a standard that immigration enforce it as if it were a law. Thanks for your reply, I will try to secure or go to Japan.

This may be a stupid question, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

I need to leave Korea in March. My contract ends in April, but my boss has agreed to let me go home to see my family for a couple of months. So, my visa will expire while I am gone. I plan to return to Korea at the end of April. Does this mean I will have to start from scratch to make a new e2 visa? The reason I am letting the original one expire is so that I can get my pension refund, so getting an extension or a d10 isn't an option in this case.  THANKS!

For those undergoing the D10 process currently, here is an up-to-date summary:

D10 APPLICATION PROCEDURE 2018

1. Reserve an appointment online via the HiKorea website at: https://www.hikorea.go.kr/pt/RsvInfoPageR_en.pt

You should reserve your appointment 2-3 weeks in advance because of current waiting times. Needless to say you must go to the same Immigration office that registered your last contract. You should time your appointment to as soon as possible after your contract expires. I have heard (unconfirmed) that you must apply within 12 days of finishing your contract.

2. You will need to prepare and bring the following to your appointment:

i) Appointment Reciept (방문예약 접수증)
Print this when you when you make a reservation online. It has a call number which will show up on the electronic sign in the immigration room along with the desk number. Be on time because appointments are now quite punctual.

ii) Application Form (Report Form) 통합신청서 (신고서)
This can be downloaded and printed from the HiKorea website. Tick the box for "Change of status of sojourn" and fill in your details.

iii) Two passport photos size 35mm X 45mm.

iv) Confirmation of Residence Form 거주/ 숙소제공 확인서
If you have a rental contract bring a copy. In which case you will not need to provide this form.

v) Passport.

vi) ARC card.

vi) ARC re-issuance fee. This is W30,000 for the pick-up option, or W33,000 if you want your new ARC delivered by post.  To pay this, take your passport into the bank/ payment room (within the Immigration Centre) and use the cash machine and instructions provided.

vii) Tax Revenue Reciept for W100,000. Pay at the booth in the payment room. There are no longer actual stamps but they will give you a simple form.

viii) Proof of adequate funds to cover your stay. You may or may not be asked for this. Bring a bank statement in any case.

viv) Copy of previous contract. If your contract is not finished then you will need a LOR (Letter of release).

x) Plan for seeking Employment form (구직활 동계 획서).

Processing.

Assuming your application is accepted (and it should be if you have all your stuff together), then you will be provided with a "Certificate of Application for Permit of Stay".  Keep this safe as it functions as your ARC and you will need it to pick up your new ARC later.

The pick up date is invariably 21 days from the initial date of application. During this period you may not leave the country, although if you do, your application will be automatically cancelled.

Good day .
Catch my drift?

I have a question that may sound very dumb. I'm starting a job at the beginning of next week but it was all very last minute so I had very little time to actually apply for my E-2 visa. My application has been submitted to the Korean Immigration Office so I can receive my visa issuance number. I was told I would receive it by the end of the week. My question is once I receive my number and go to the Korean Embassy in London with my other documents, how long does it take to process everything. I've heard people say it takes days and people saying it takes hours and I'm not really sure.

I've never heard of it only taking hours. Typically the consulates say 5-7 business days and most will do it in five. When you drop off the documents the person will be able to tell you when you can come back to pick up your passport.

Hei guys!

I hope someone can advise me on this: I am currently on D-10 visa looking for jobs in Korea, but I am planning to return to my home country at the end of this month and come back again in April. My D-10 visa ends in May, is there a problem for leaving Korea for 2 weeks?

Also, I know many people who keep staying in Korea on D-10 visa and extend it many times, but can you confirm this? Is there a limit on how many times you can apply for D-10 visa and are there any additional documents to show when applying for the 2nd time?

Thank you in advance!

For the D10 application, how much do we need in our bank book to prove funding for living here?

Not sure. I was asked for proof last time and showed a statement with 20M on it. The official nodded and said ok.

Apparently you can leave for up to 3 months without having to get new docs.

its possible but starts to get complicated. ie you have to prove you were actually jobhunting.

The first time I did it years back the minimum I heard you needed was 2.5 million.

Thank you. That's not as much as I was expecting to be honest. I also read a lot of people weren't even asked to prove this. So I'm guessing it's all dependent on whose working on the day?

Second question, if my current immigration office is Suwon/Pyeongtaek but my new address (the place where I will live whilst on D10 visa) is in Seoul, should I go to my current local immigration office or to one in Seoul? Or does it not matter?

I would get that bank statement regardless because you can never be too safe.  Keep in mind that it will freeze your account for 24 hours when you get the statement.  I would go to the Seoul office if that's where you'll be staying.  The first time I did this I was headed out of Suncheon and was going to be staying in Gwangju for a bit and I tried to do the paperwork at the area immigration office in Yeosu.  I was told I had to go to Gwangju's office since that's where my address would be.

Thanks for the heads up. So I should get a statement from inside the bank branch?

Yes.  Go to your bank and ask for that statement of balance.

So on 2nd April I managed to get it done at my immigration office and I made sure to go on 2nd April because I am flying out to England on 20th April. This allows plenty of time. So I thought..
However, the paper I received from the office says the pick up day is 23rd April. I thought it only takes 10 days to process plus I said at the immigration office I will be leaving on 20th April. The lady proceeded to yell at me "COME BACK BEFORE 20TH THEN!!!" I am really confused as to when my ARC will be available to pick up and wondered if the date on the form meant before 23rd not ON 23rd. If so how can I know when it's ready?

Updates (even though no one replied lol but this might be helpful for other people in the future)
I called immigration to ask if I could pick up my ARC before the date given on the paper and they called my local office and apparently my ARC card is already processed and ready to be picked up. This is good news for me but just wondering why there's no email/phone service that notifies you when your card is available to be collected?

Were you able to get a certificate of residency? That's what I'm worried about. My contract ends in the beginning of July and my ARC at the end of July and I need to go back to the US for 3 months, but I don't have time to sit around and wait for my card to come.

And does anyone know if we're allowed to have a job OUTSIDE of Korea on a D10?
