Japan Visa Run Passport validity question
« on: February 21, 2014, 10:14:09 am »
Hey so I have to do the infamous Japan visa run next week.

I have been reading the instructions online and I have seen this mentioned:

Required Items: - Your passport (with remaining validity of at least one year)

My passport expires this December. That is 10 months of validity. I do not have at least one year of validity on my passport. Is this going to be a problem that inhibits them from processing my visa?

Anyone have any experience with this?

Some information would be great.

Thanks,

Craig

You can't get it. The visa is good for around 13 months, and your passport will be useless after 10 months. You will need to get a new passport first.

A few years ago, I had to renew my passport, even though there was still about 11 months left on it. The reason I had to renew it then was because I was going to renew my public school contract at the time, and my passport would expire before the end date on my renewal contract. So yeah, you should apply to renew your passport first before doing the visa run.

I had to get a new passport overseas last year and it took just over a week for the entire process. Move quickly and get this done. You will probably need to make an appointment at your embassy, so do that after you finish with this sentence.

Why are you reading this??? Go make the appointment!!!
