Slightly higher quality of lunches this month?
« on: February 10, 2014, 11:16:32 am »
I've noticed a slight increase in the quality of school lunches this month, and was wondering if anyone else has too.

Nothing dramatic, it's a subtle improvement, but I have had fresh fruit almost every day for 6 days running, when usually I might get it once a week. Also, some of the meat seems to be of slightly higher quality. Granted, the majority of it is the same.

Do public schools get the same amount of lunch funding for February, as other months, and try to cram 4 weeks worth of food into 2?

could be that your school hired someone new to organise the school lunches.
use google to search the site

site:waygook.org XXXX

replace 'XXXX' with your search term

Might be a new budget. School lunches at my school were amazing at the beginning of the school year last March, then slowly deteriorated until by September it was just crappy Korean hot dogs and spam and unrecognizable fried meat every day.

I've noticed the same thing at my school. I was thinking that since it's the end of the year, maybe they're trying to polish off the rest of the budget before the new one starts?

My school does this too.  Co t said they were just using up the budget before the new school year starts.
I'm jealous though.  My school just buys stupidly expensive yogurt drinks.  I'd much rather have the fruit...

I also have to agree, my school lunches are 9 times out of ten wonderful, and a lot healthier than I would be eating otherwise.

Nope, same old dog food we get all year.

We've been having 2 servings of meat since last week. We had strawberries last week and today we had marinated ribs! I asked my co-teacher and she said they have to finish the money from this school year's lunch budget before the new school year begins.

Same thing with my school. Just had buttered chicken, beef soup, rice, 3 kinds of banchan, apple slices, and milk, when we usually only have some kind of meat, salted water passing for soup, rice, and kimchi. But I've gotten so used to it that I actually find it yummy now.

Middle school here. Food sucks. Hardly any meat. Kimchi, corn, or bean sprout soup as the only veggies we're given. Random orange sometimes. Random yogurt drink sometimes.

The food at my school is pretty good 9 days out of 10.  I've noticed in February we have more of the dessert type items, yoghurt or bread and jam or sweet ddeok ...
