Issues with EPIK payscale
« on: February 03, 2014, 10:14:28 am »
I am at a public school in Chungnam province.  I have already been here for two years, and am going to sign a 3rd year contract.

Now, as I understand it, you have to be at the school for 2 years, and in the third year you get a pay upgrade.  I am currently on a level 1 and was expecting to go to a level 1+ in June when I sign my 3rd contract.  However, I was told that you need to RENEW for two years before you get the pay upgrade.  Is that correct?  Basically, your first year doesn't count then....Doesn't make sense to me...

Can someone please shed some light on this for me asap?

If you're talking about EPIK, then you get to 1+ after:

2 consecutive years as Level 1 within the same Provincial Office of Education (POE)

Sounds like your school is mistaken, or BSing you.

That's what I thought too.  I contacted my coordinator and she said after two renewal contracts... sigh...

also, i'm with EPIC (which i've heard is a little different from the EPIK one).  not sure if that makes a diff also

Thanks for your reply, tho

Speaking of which, where are you on the pay scale when you sign with a new POE/MOE after a few years with another one?

You are where you'd be if you just joined EPIK for the first time.
