Alex at Daewoo Securities
« on: December 11, 2013, 09:19:22 am »
Has anyone ever invested with this broker? He seems to have corned the "foreigners investing their hagwons savings in Korea" market.

Daewoo is a trusted firm, so that does give him credibility I guess.

If anyone has had any experience, I'd be happy to hear it. I'm either going to to with him or Mirae Asset.

If you don't know Korean companies or investing here, I wouldn't.  I would send your money home and invest in America.  Or invest in ETFs here that you can also do it American markets.

Why use a broker?

Ask to see a picture with him and his car/apartment. If it is nothing special then why do you think he will do any better than you could do yourself. I am just fine at not paying someone else to lose my money for me, I can do that just fine on my own.

Try e-trade or merrill edge. All my trades are free with Merrill and it's connected with my Bank of America account so transferring funds is easy and quick.

Definitely true. And the index funds should be low cost and no-load.

Slightly off topic but I like risks.

Going to gamble 1,000 USD on a stock which is very low but late next year I could see a 50,000-100,000 profit. And yes researched above and beyond. Then again it might not come to fruition but it's only 1,000 bucks. Did I mention its 99% in my opinion?

Why do you need a broker?  Just open an account and buy online.  I would  go with mirae asset as they have the lowest fees.

If you're looking to day trade, you might as well burn your money in a bonfire.  At least it'll keep you warm.
