« on: November 29, 2013, 08:25:11 pm »
i'm in the second part of the online orientation program and have watched the first lesson completely three times. have yet to find the secret way to actually get credit for watching it. could somebody let me know what the trick is or does the site just have a mind of its own at times?

What browser are you using?

I remember when I did mine, if I used chrome some of the "next" buttons were hidden/didn't load properly. Without clicking the next button it wasn't registering that I had finished the unit.

Try giving it a go in Internet Explorer.

thanks. i'm using internet explorer actually. i've tried closing the window for the lesson after completion and then refreshing the list (that's what the website recommended in the FAQs) and i've also tried moving onto the next lesson and then moving back to the main screen that's supposed to show your progress, but no dice so far

I should have been more specific. This module is the 'Online In-service' course that's taken after orientation.

I seem to remember there being some kind of 'start' button that you have to hit. It was a long time ago so I don't remember the details, but I had the same issue (except I am dumb enough to make the same mistake thrice)

You're not dumb. The system needs to be re-designed to make it user friendly.

I've just watched the Steve Jobs movie so i'm feeling rather inspired

@redondo,  i've been trying something different each time when the lesson has finished. i haven't been sitting here like a monkey hitting the same button each time.

its time based. You have to have the window open for 20 minutes per lesson to get credit.

I guess the website was just having some problems on Friday. Today I watched the first lesson, hit 'X' on the window of the lesson 1 page, refreshed the main list and got credit. (one of the same things i tried on friday) I would say if anyone tries this exact process in the future and it doesn't work, just let EPIK know and give them a couple days to get it going ok.
