Re: Phonics

I have been using the phonic workbooks that eggplant posted on here.  So I have make a couple of games.  The first one is curtesy of Daejeon's new and improved MmmDonuts Simpson game.  It uses the letters A,B,C,L,M,O,P,R,S,T and U.  This is the quick edit one so there are 15 questions and it will recycle them and this one also does the automatic scoring.  It works great but be sure to change your options to allow macros if you are using 2007 Powerpoint.

The second game is a little bomb game... sorry I don't know how made it but thanks... It uses the letters A,B,C,M,O,P,S and T.

I will post more as I make them.

Have fun and change as needed.

Students find it really helpful to see the related pictures with the words.
Here is a powerpoint presentation for short e sound.

hi, Thank you for your tremendous hard work. The videos will make an excellent supplement for the kids who struggle.  Can you help me find the link to the "L - Ring Ponics Card" as I cannot seem to find it.  That would be awesome, and thank you again.

Need Help - Kindergarten Phonics - Words CONTAINING Letter Sounds
« Reply #164 on: May 12, 2011, 08:50:44 am »
So I've taught my kids the alphabet and a few words STARTING with each of the letters, for which there are about a billion resources online. What I'd like to start doing is to teach them about words CONTAINING the letter sounds (for the letter a, cat, bag, zebra, etc etc) BUT I'm having trouble locating resources for this online (phonics exercises, worksheets, etc)

Anyone have any suggestions where to start? Thanks!

Check out funfonix.

Starfall also has some things for this - they have stories with short a, short e etc.

I don't know if you want to spend any money on this, but....

the best program that I know of is Zoophonics
its a program that was designed for remedial students and adapted for all grades when they realized the value of what they had. the students (4th grade I think) came out ahead of the other students. I've taught zoophonics to preschool and had them reading (cat, hat, simple words) at the end of the year. zoophonics.com the full classroom program is expensive $300 but there is a parents package for $40

Here is a phonics certificate that you may present to your students for those of you who lead a phonics program.

Phonics for letter K, P,  and H

I have students say the sounds of each letter and then sound out the word at the end. I also added tongue twister for fun to review the sound of the letter.

"A" sounds speed game
« Reply #174 on: May 25, 2011, 01:01:23 pm »
this is the speed game using the "a" sounds. Students are in groups and have to get as many words as they can within one minute. They may use gestures, words, sentences to explain the words to their group. One person will explain for the whole time and they like it.
