Anyone have information on jobs in China?
« on: March 07, 2013, 10:57:46 am »
This job market blows. I guess it's time to jump ship to China. Anything I should know? Is it true two years of (verifiable) full time teaching experience is a requisite for (legally) teaching there? (I hope not, because if that's the case, I'm screwed.) I heard uni jobs (and public school jobs) are easy to get there, but the pay is not the greatest. (One person wrote on the international boards of Dave's ESL Cafe about how he had a university job that paid peanuts, then found out the recruiter who placed him was getting half of his salary.) It is better to not go through a recruiter as they are shady and take too much of a cut. Maybe I am too late for a uni job (and public school job) for now? What should I do? How good is China for side work like privates and voice recording? What is the hourly going rate? Maybe Vietnam is a good option too? Any words of wisdom my friends?

I work at a english center in China called " Lucky International English Center", If you want more intel, with specfic questions you can email me: dabrownbandit@gmail.com or you can Skype chat me: neobrownbandit

Either way I'd be more than happy to speak with you on behalf.

to answer some of your posted questions though, the pay is probably 3x that or universitys...averg ae uni pay is about 4,000rmb last time I checked.
I currently work for this company and if you liked to apply, you would immiediately be sought out for an interview via our HR Department, so no recruiters.
and you only need 1 year experience in the teaching field as well.

Do you really have to pay to get the job? Seems fishy to me. Also, 6500rmb seems a little low for a city like that.
