WAYGOOKS ARE GETTING EXPENSIVE!
« on: February 07, 2013, 10:46:52 am »
;D Just to get a feel of how some foreigners will respond, if they were asked to receive a lower paycheck to stay on in Korea. Are the costs outweighing the results? What do you think?

My god. A raise wouldn't even keep me in Korea, so there's no way in heck I would stay if my pay were getting cut.

No, I would not stay.   I worked hard to get to the highest pay level in EPIK.  If I was asked to take a pay cut, I would simply look at another place to teach like Hong Kong where the pay is higher (Yes, I know that the cost of living is also more expensive).
I'd rather spend 1000 winters in Korea than have to deal through one more summer.

I'm leaving after this contract anyway; a pay cut (or raise) doesn't affect me at this point.

Though I'd considering staying for a HUGE raise.

I'm actually taking a slight pay cut at my uni job, but the hours and vacation are fantastic.

That is it in a nutshell.  There is a give and take.  I would maybe take a cut, if the job improved in some other way.  Better hours, location, quality of students, etc
