To the guys saying find a gf......how will you go about meeting that goal? Serious question and not trying to he a prick. But how does one suddenly go from being single to having a gf? Are you trying to be more confident and just be a better you? Very curious to know.

leave Korea in April and never ever ever come back the rest of my life

my thoughts exactly. Not April necessarily but in the end of 2013, Korea must be a distant memory.
Out. Never been happier

For anyone looking to kill some deskwarming time and interested in self analysis, here's a blog post explaining how to conduct a thorough annual review of your life over the past year.  The author explains his thought process in reflecting on last year and developing goals for the future.

This is just the first post, but he has a whole series and new reviews every year.

My new years resolution:

Write down one positive thought or thing I am thankful a day.  I am trying to be a more positive and thankful individual and I hope this helps.

I always forget about New Year's resolutions! I guess my resolution is to actually make some this year.

A quick search tells me this blog is very popular and I'm probably the last to hear about it, but... this guy runs a blog on and has published a book about being a non-conformist (presumably full of rules to conform to in order to achieve this end).

Surely there is some kind of terrible irony here.

1. Decide what to get my M.A. in and subsequently what career I really want to pursue
2. Whether I stay in Korea or not, I want to certify in a language
3. Gain 5 kilos
4. Limit Facebook to approx. 30 minutes a week.
5. Read 2 books a month, at least

Up my family's net worth by 60,000 USD or if my wife gets a new job and I go back to school increase our net worth by 25,000 USD (just keep pace with inflation).

Not learn a single word of Korean. Eat no kimchee. Count the days until I get out out vacation.

1. End the year 2013 healthier, wealthier & wiser than 2012.
2. Scuba dive at least once ( Phillipines, maybe ? - just got back from Thailand & forgot how much I missed diving.)
3. Read more English books , for fun (one every two months)
4. Improve my Korean language skills.
5. Visit Japan, Taiwan OR Shanghai during the year.
