Holiday in May?
« on: February 16, 2011, 11:06:48 am »
Hey Waygookins!!

There are 2 public holidays in May which is the 5th (Thursday) and the 10th (Tuesday). I heard that some schools are giving their teachers off the 6th (Friday) and then also the 9th (Monday).

Then it is like a super long weekend!

Anybody else know if they are also getting off?

last year my school gave us those days off as "sandwich" days, but they aren't sure if they will this year.

My co-teacher says that I'll get the monday off as a free days holiday but that school is as normal on friday. I think it will change school by school.

Definitely ask your school, and make sure you ask questions. This year for Chuseok (Wed.-Thurs. were national holidays) I was told there was no school Monday or Friday. They neglected to mention, however, that I still needed to take vacation days if I didn't want to come in. They didn't tell me until the day I left for Jeju, and couldn't change my plans. I ended up taking one vacation day and basically had to cut my trip home for Christmas short by three days because it meant that I couldn't connect my vacation days with that extra weekend.
