Grade 4, Book 8: Lesson 9, She's a Police Officer
« on: November 08, 2012, 12:51:41 pm »
Here are some PPTs I've used with my classes to teach this lesson. There is an intro power point to introduce the target language and practice it with the students, a bingo game with various jobs and vocab from the lesson, an excuse me? I'm sorry? explanation power point that could work for a quick warm-up, and really fun game instructions in both Korean and English for a virus game. The excuse me? I'm sorry? PPT goes well with the virus game if you choose to use them together.

I also tried doing charades with job words and 21 questions with this lesson. Those two worked well! With 21 questions one student thinks of a job (any job) and other students ask yes or no questions to figure out what kind of job it is.

Hope this helps someone out there! Happy teaching~ ;D

Crazy actions game. Used for speaking and reading periods.

Students enjoy it!

Here's a "Go To Sleep" game that my students really loved. I have directions for the game in Korean on the power point because the rules area  bit tricky to explain in English alone. Here are the rules verbatim in English:

Go to sleep game

1. All group members will put their heads down and close their eyes. No peeking!

2. There will be one letter on the smart board. Ms. Ayla will call a number, for example, person 1. ONLY person one can raise their head and look at the letter on the screen. After looking, they should put their head back down and close their eyes.

3. After all the letters have been shown, Ms. Ayla will tell everyone to wake up.

4. Talk with your teammates and make a word with all the letters. When you have made a word, put your hands on your head.

5. The fastest team with the correct word will get three points. The second fastest team will get two points. The third fastest team will get one point.

NO CHEATING!

1. When it's "sleeping time" or "heads down time" please don't whisper with your teammates. Please don't make a word with your table. You can only talk about the letters and words when it's wake up time.

If I catch a table cheating, minus two points.

In the power point I underlined my name when it appears in the rules so those of you who don't read Korean can change my name to your name : ) Enjoy!

Good for the writing section.
