So yea it's insured for 2,000 dollars because that's how much it worth. The Korean post office is saying that I would need to pay about 600,000 won in taxes. Is this normal? It sounds pretty steep. They said if I want the price lowered they would have to get another invoice for a lower price. It's not a new ring either, I didn't buy it at a store, a family member is shipping it to me.

Yeah customs sucks. The only other option is to ship it hidden in something with no insurance/declaration. You may be able to get it insured back in the states through a private insurer, just don't tell them u plan to ship it to avoid customs.  :P
