Gyeongsangnamdo 200000 won bonus
« on: June 28, 2012, 11:48:02 am »
Have other teachers been informed about this? There apparently is a 200000 bonus for all teachers in the province. This money is to be spent on specific  things such as taking a trip, petrol and sports equipment.

I have heard nothing about this. Where did you hear this? Have you any written evidence to support this? I'd like to collect 200,000 Won.

As far as I know, you aren't eligible for this in your first year here, but can get it in subsequent years.

I needed receipts to receive the money and they had to be for either health or sports. I think there was another category but I forget what it was. I used a receipt from my taekwondo hagwon.

There was also a fixed time period during which the money had to be spent. I think for me it was Sept - Dec.

My wife's school (obviously it only applies to state teachers); she has collected various receipts to claim the money back. I have spoken to Korean teachers from other schools who are aware of it; however at my school, no matter how much I pester my co teacher they are not forthcoming on details.

Gyeongsangnamdo resident here, and I was informed this week by my administration office that I am entitled to a reimbursement of up to 200,000 won for the purchase of specific  items.  And, that these items included clothes, eyeglasses and shoes.  It's not exactly a bonus, because you just aren't given the money, but if you buy the right items and provide receipts you get reimbursed.
This money was described to me as coming from a special welfare program.  I will be submitting my receipts next week.   I'm in my fifth contract at the same school and this is the first time that I have heard of this program.

I was told this by my co-teacher that this is only for home room teachers. Any way I can pursuade her otherwise?
