NEWSFLASH: besides people from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, no-one really cares about the difference between the two. Most people don't even really care about the Irelands at all.

Realize that, and stop getting offended by it.
Eh, it wasn't an Irish person who brought the subject up. It was a troll comment to a post from 2011.

And besides, we all know Yanks* don't anything outside their front door.

Yes people should have to know basic geography but the world is a big place with 100s of countries and people can't be expected to remember the intricacies of all of them, especially if they're not from a particular part of the world and thus have no vested interest in the geo-political standing of some part.

I'm sure most people know that Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland are 2 different places but if you asked most people outside of the UK/the Irelands which one was part of the UK most people probably wouldn't be able to tell you without looking it up, simply because it's not important to them and thus they don't really care.

In my first ever week teaching here, I gave each class some time to ask any questions they had about me/my life before Korea etc.

My CT asked: 'Are you considered handsome in your own country?'

Better than the 'you'd look handsome if you lost some weight' comments I often receive.

You should have dramatically said, "Yes!" and confidently tossed your hair*.

One class I teach is a lesson behind the other classes because of frequent schedule changes.  My coT asks me, "why is this class retarded?"  :P

My school went hiking with teachers, students, and parents this past Saturday.
CT: Did you enjoy our hike on Saturday?
Me: Yeah!  I'm really glad I went!
CT: Did you see the statue related to sex?
Me: What?  Haha no, where was it?
CT: Near the waterfall.  Many people can enjoy it.  Mr. Park and Mr. Seo enjoyed it very much.
