"Sand" as an abbrev. for "Sandwich"

Not to be a cotton-headed ninny-muggins, but where in the world is the word "sand" used as an abbreviation for "sandwich"?

There's a shop right opposite my building called "Sand and Food" I died laughing when I first arrived and saw it...totally bizarre!!!
Then again - there is a beauty shop in my town called.. "Skin and Bady"...;)

They use "sand" for "sandwich" here in Japan too.

In Korea, clearly!   ;D

They also use "band" in place of "bandage," even the ones that aren't band-shaped by any reasonable stretch of the imagination.

You didnt know?  I have seen a korean put sand on their sandwich, they said it added minerals to their diet.  ::)
