Vid for this lesson. Worked with students to change "What a pretty girl./What a ______ into 'Look how pretty she is./Look how ________."

"What a ______ ______!-big banana, pretty girl, warm coat, small guitar, beautiful flower, cute puppy, crazy boy!"

Just wondering about the logistics of playing the power point 'guess who' game. How did you organise teams etc for a class of about 25 students? I want to do it in a way that gives everyone a chance to speak and stay involved. Usually we play games in teams of four. Thanks for any advice!

Hey I made a thing! lol. So for this lesson I pretty much bypassed the whole "How Beautiful, How Cute, How Blah" crap and just focused on describing people. For example, she has long hair, he is tall, he has big eyes. Basic stuff. So I made a detective game. I'm going to use this after the review but if your kids have got basic descriptions down you can use it whenever you want. So here's how it goes:

FIND THE THIEF

The student will get the handout, it has thief 1-9, and under each thief there are 5 check-boxes for the five suspects.

The PowerPoint has two slides for each of the 9 thieves: first is an introductory description (ex he has big eyes, he has ...) of the thief and the second slide will show five suspects matching the description BUT only one of the suspects fits the description best. Your students will have to recall the description given to them and then mark who they believe the true thief to be on their handout.

At the end of the game you can have them either check their own answers or pass the handout around in the group to be checked. END

I think my kids got a big kick out of a warm up I did based on this, it was very basic, so I'm going to see how this goes over. No, I have not tried this version in class, so it may flop,  :P. This doesn't use any extra fonts, it can be changed to suit your needs, and if you want to redo some of the thieves here is the character generator I used:

Have fun, let me know of any problems but I doubt there should be any technical difficulties.

This is a cool idea.  I'm going to give it a try!  Thank you. :)

These are my materials for period 2. It was my open class so we put in a bit more effort than usual. We printed the Guess Who game and put them in plastic wallets. The students had board markers and played in pairs. Each student said 3 sentences,  and then guessed.
All the video and sound files should work if they are in the same folder as the ppt.

*Just realised that slide 54 contains a couple of photos of my colleague and I... you'll probably want to delete those!

We didn't really cover much vocabulary beyond the textbook so I ended up making a 'Guess Who' board using the cards that came with the book. I just printed this out and students played in teams of two versus two.

We also did a 'Draw a Monster' activity. This took about fifteen/twenty minutes but the students loved it so much they were begging to play for longer.

I created a PPT for period 1-4, includes vocabulary, phrases, worksheet and games.

You are more than welcome to use it.

On some of the slides I explain some of the directions.

That Baskin Robbins game was an interesting idea, but I think having to wait until number 31 before someone loses will leave the kids getting bored and restless. Plus, it's hard to practice the game so the kids get an idea of how it works if they have to go through the whole board first.

So I made an alteration. In my version, 7, 15, 24, and 31 are losers, and those kids sit. That way you can practice the game, getting to 7 faster than 31. I also added Korean translations (from Google Translate, so they may or may not be perfect).

For game play, I'll divide the class into girls vs. boys, and do three rounds per game (kids going through the board 3 times). Whichever group has the most standing wins that round.

I'm trying this today, so I'm not entirely sure how it's going to play. Modifications may be necessary.

Here's a short warm up ppt. I made for lesson 7.2, it just has a few pictures of American celerities and the sentence structure 'How... he/she is!' On the last slide there's a picture of an extremely tall man with two women to prep for the new material for the lesson. And there's purposefully two pictures of Jon Heder, one as Napoleon and one as himself. I'm looking forward to the students' reactions when I tell them they're the same person. ;)
